  1. Well, Im not an expert at this, but this is what I understand those numbers to mean: The IGA and IGG go hand in hand in determining if there is a possibilty for gluten intolerance. THe IGG can be elevated for a number of reasons, therefore is not specific enough to make a determination alone. In some Celiacs there is an IGA deficiancy and so if it shows...
  2. Is there a reason to watch the amount of fiber? I never had even thought about that?....
  3. in both cases for myself, it was in a salad dressing, and also in a bbq sauce. I don't know much about it.
  4. Im not an expert about it, but I would say if you have celiac disease it will show on the biospy. It does not neccessarily correlate with your symptoms. Some have celiac disease and don't even have major symptoms. Im sure as far as the test goes, you are fine. Just be thankful you are having some relief of your symptoms, and let us know what happens.
  5. Im so sorry. Did your Dr give you any suggestions as to what it might be? Obviously it's not normal..!! Keep us informed. I'll be thinking about you
  6. So am I to understand that he is not diagnosed Celiac right now???? That sounds awful. How old is he? It's really hard as a parent to know what to do, but if you feel like testings need to be done, I would push atleast one of the Dr's until he agrees. I had many problems and still do with my little 2 year old twins. There were a number of occasions...
  7. from my experience the Midel cookies are fine if you get the gluten-free. It looks like Granger got a bag of Wheat free which isn't the same thing.
  8. another point you might want to think about. It goes along with Marrian's post about the vegetables. I read in a book called " dangerous grains" that for many people during the healing process, your body is unable to handle the roufage, and high figer that typically is seen in a gluten-free diet. Like the veggies....Brocc, beans, seeds, nuts.....etc. ...
  9. I was going to suggest the same thing.... the almond milk or maybe even goat's milk. Those are the alternatives I can think of. I know that the rice milk specifically says that it is made from a barley enzyme, but I don't think that is the same with soy. I don't know.... Sorry
  10. Thanks for the reply. I will give it a try tonight. !!!!
  11. Are the frozen chicken breasts gluten-free? The ingredients listed are ckn broth and seasonings added. I called the company and they said they are gluten-free, but Im a little hesitant. Anyone else know???? Laura
  12. On the listing from a recent web site it said the ckn cubes made by Maggi ( in regular grocery stores) is safe.! hope this helps
  13. ooo! ouch,! Im sorry to hear that. I think that the respsonse to it is different for everyone. Sorry hope you feel better soon
  14. Im beginning to question if I have an allergy to mustard bran. Im not even sure what it is, but although never noticing it before, have had 2 occassions in the past month where i Have had some kind of reaction that is a definate response to something. within about 30 min my face gets really really flushed, and I just in general feel really bad. The first...
  15. Hi Tracey, Im not an expert at this.........yet. I was just recently diagnosed with celiac disease ( blood work) and b/c my children (2 year old twins ) have had some significant health issues since they were born, I decided to have them tested as well. I have recieved the results from the blood work, but have not seen the Dr until Wed. I do know that...
  16. Im not an expert about this at all, but I just wanted to add. Has anyone thought about what they use in the morning. IE: toothpaste, or mouthwash, or medicines, or flavored floss. Those things could affect the morning routine...I would think.. Just an idea.
  17. HI, Sorry to hear you have to wait so long. It's so hard not knowing. however, if you have already had the blood work done, and you have had the biopsy done, there is no harm in strating the gluten-free diet and seeing if you notice any difference. You may know before the Dr gets back to you just based on your symptoms. I notice improvements within about...
  18. Hillary, quick question.... You had your daughter biopsied right? Were you happy you did that? Would you change that decision at all?...my 2 year old boys tested positive from the blood work and I do not want to have the biopsies done. I also tested positive from the blood work, and chose not to have the biopsy done. My symptoms have improved since...
  19. Hoping someone can help me!!! I have been diagnosed celiac disease through blood work. I had my boys checked this week. Just got the blood work back, but have not had an appointment with the Dr yet. So although I have done much research on the blood work and expected resutls, I am a little unsure of what they mean... can anyone help Nolan IGA...
  20. Well, I have just recentlly had blood work done confirming that I am gluten intolerant. I have not and will probably not have the biopsy done. However, I did want to get my boys tested to see what it came back with. The appointment with the Dr is not until next week. I have a good idea of the results, but not a full comprehension. Thought maybe someone...

    ARCHIVED Do You Recommend Biopsy?

Hi Kathleen. sounds like your in the same boat as me. From my understanding it is very unlikely that a bx would show anything at all. If you are determined not to go back on gluten, do not easily allow your Dr to pursuade you to have the biopsy. It will most likely be negative no matter what. Let us know what happens
  22. I LOVE curry, but I have read several times that curry powders are a cause for concern. I use Mccormick's red curry powder. I called the company, and they said that there is no worries about gluten in their seasonings. It is gluten-free! HOwever, one of the sites that I found says specifically that Mccormicks curry powder is NOT gluten-free! Im so confused...
  23. Im sorry to hear that. It's so hard to see little ones with such problems. Im sure during your research you will find that there are hundreds of symptoms that can be associated with Celiac. It depends on each person. How did your Dr diagnose him?.... Im sure over a matter of time you will find quickly if that is his problem. most poeple after gluten...

    ARCHIVED Do You Recommend Biopsy?

Mariann, Wow! thank you for that story. That's amazing. It's really sad to see how many people suffer with this longer than they should have to. Some maybe even forever. I am thankful my Dr tested for the intolerance when he did. I have been back on gluten for 1 week now, and although my symptoms are not as bad as they had been originally I still...
  25. Kel, I have never been a fan of bread...but since going gluten-free I knew I would need to find something that would work. I have not done a lot of experimenting yet, but I bought a mix at our health food store. It's called "Bob's Red Mill wonderful gluten-free bread mix". It's excellent. I has turned out everytime I have made it. I make it in the...
