Let The Liberation Begin

About Us
This blog is basically a mirror of the blog that Kelsy & I keep at The Liberated Kitchen. You'll see a blitz of posts for a while as I get all our old posts transfered over here! We randomly post about what we're eating, the garden, and whatever else might come to mind. Because our family is on the GAPS diet and is 100% gluten-free, that's a bias! You can read about how we ended up making those dietary choices at Our Story.

Here's the first, about the business we run in Portland, Oregon:

We decided to start The Liberated Kitchen because we know first-hand how challenging it can be to make dietary changes for health reasons. The right system and the support of a knowledgeable, caring friend can make all the difference.

We collaborate with you through in-home consultations, and create a Personal Liberation Guide that will help you reach your goals. Depending on your needs, the services the Personal Liberation Guide may include shopping help, menu-plans, home organization and decluttering services. Additionally, we may design, install, and maintain a healing or kitchen garden.

Through the process we maintain these core values:

Compassion - We know that making a change comes with mixed feelings, which are different for everyone. Going through a kitchen is more than tossing out what doesn’t work and bringing in stuff that does. Memories come up, attachments are discovered, and it can even be a cathartic experience. Making changes often means facing past poor choices and fears for the future. With compassion and without judgement, Kitchen Liberators help you work through these feelings and discover what support systems will be necessary in order to move forward with your physical healing and new life-style.

Health - We support your personal health objectives. We listen to the you, then work with you to create systems which help you stick with the dietary or life-style changes you need to make for improved health. We believe good health can be the basis of a happy life.

Sustainability - From the landscapes we create to the way we treat our employees, Kitchen Liberation is about creating systems that can last. That means benefits and opportunities for personal growth for our employees, gardens that benefit wild-life and the watershed as well as people, and helping establish new patterns of behavior you'll prefer to the old way of doing things. Every action we take is weighed against its impact, and is designed to be something that remains financially, environmentally, and personally responsible in the long term.

We look forward to getting to know you, and helping you transform your home & garden for a healthy, happy life!
