So stressed?

Hey ,I just found out that I have celiac and that I have to go on a gluten free  diet. The bad thing about this is that I’m a really picky eater and I’m scared and stressed about how this will effect my life?

Might be best to make a post if your looking for answers, give us a idea of foods you do eat that are nuturally gluten free and perhaps we can help you with recipes?

The best thing is whole foods, avoid processed foods and no eating out unless you can find a 100% gluten free place or one well reviewed by other Celiacs on Findmeglutenfree. But overall it is Russian roulette.

I honestly used to be a picky eater as a kid, but either maturity, vitamin deficiency cravings or nerve damage but I can eat just about anything any more and no longer have those odd "texture" issues I used to have with foods. I just have to eat what does not make me sick or I react to.....my list is longer then just gluten lol.

I personally follow a paleo based diet with a keto/atkins ratio as I can not eat carbs either....my damage from celiac and other issues messed up my immune system and pancreas so I got allergies, sensitivities, and intolerance galore with no lactose, whey, corn, peanuts, soy, several random additives, no sugars, carbs, and meats in extreme moderation....and other things.

I live on omelettes, quiches, nut flour based baked goods and breads, nut meal porridge, smoothies, leafy greens, nut based cheeses both bought and made. Run a gluten free paleo bakery, do paleo based chef jobs, and aspire to get a paleo based food truck later this year.
You eat to live, and if you have to build your life around what you have to. Learn to cook and invite others over when you get it down to become the host and live safe.

Hey do check out the newbie 101 thread for help Should I link it for your?
Easy start with Nordic ware microwave cookware, and sticking to whole foods, removing dairy and oats til you heal is suggested. I have a list of gluten free substitutes for just about everything.
Oh and bread....give it up for months til you no longer know what it taste like before trying the gluten free ones.

I am looking for any suggestions to help with the itching caused by DH. I am currently taking 50 mg. of dapsone and cannot tolerate any higher dosage due to anemia. I do take gabapentin in morning, noon and night. I feel like I am constantly tired and would love to come off all the drugs but the rash is intense; arms, legs, buttocks, feet. I have been gluten free for over  a year now. I was diagnosed about three years ago and worked closely with a dermatologist but it seems like if I can't increase the dapsone dosage then I have to deal with the itching. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I suggest you post a thread in the DH (
dermatitis herpetiformis) section of the forum.  You are more likely to get responses there.  https://www.celiac.com/forums/forum/26-dermatitis-herpetiformis/

Read through the DH section of Celiac.com.  There are great tips to help cope with the itching.  I think you will find that a SUPER strict gluten-free diet helps with DH.  That means very few processed foods and no eating out.  Take risks once you have seen improvement.  The Fasano diet is a good place to start.
