7Yo With Weak Positive?

My 7yo has had chronic constipation, almost since birth. She also suffers from gas, distended abdomen and daily pain. Her doctor two years ago just said she was slow motility and to continue daily miralax.

Finally a doc at a pneumonia follow up ran a celiac panel and her tTg_IgA came back weak positive at 4 (‹4 no antibody, 4-10 weak positive, >10 positive)

All other testing was normal, ttg-IgG, IgA serum, EMA and one other. No DGP testing done.

We see a ped GI later this week. Is one weak positive enough to dx her? I am concerned about getting the endoscopy... Because if it is normal, what would the value of the blood testing alone be?

And if she is DX a Celiac, I will get her siblings tested. I was blood tested last year with negative results, but have many sx's. Should I ask to be retested?

We chose to do the genetic test before the biopsy. If there was not genetic marker, I would not have done the endo. DS had 2 of the genes so we did it.

      results from 13 day gluten challenge - does this mean I can't have celiac?

      good luck! vital wheat gluten made me violently ill. I will touch the stuff ever again.

      I wouldn't consider this lucky. I can NOT tolerate the symptoms. And I googled it and I was not even getting 10 grams of gluten per day and I was extremely ill. They'd have to put me in the hospital. I'm not kidding. I will have my first appt with a GI dr on March 4th I will not eat gluten again - at least not on purpose ...

      My journey is it gluten or fiber?

      What Thiamine Hydrochloride brand do you take? Is it like the other vitamins I have added? What brand Tryptophan and amount do you take. Thanks

      Gluten free Yogurt suggest

      I would not think store bought yogurt would contain gluten unless it possibly could be through an added flavoring or coloring ingredient. Otherwise, it should be naturally gluten free. Keep in mind that some companies are capitalizing on people's fears and ignorance (nothing personal intended) by labeling foods "gluten free" that are just that way by...

      FDA looking for input on Celiac Gluten sensitivity labeling PLEASE READ and submit your suggestions

      I believe the GFCO does use a common logo for certified gluten free products (those containing not more that 10ppm of gluten) but nothing universal yet from the FDA for standard gluten free products (those containing not more that 20ppm).

Otherwise, it should be naturally gluten free.  Keep in mind that some companies are capitalizing on people's fears and ignorance (nothing personal intended) by labeling foods "gluten free" that are just that way by the nature of what they are. They are hoping to create a marketing edge over their competitors by adding "gluten free" because they know it may catch attention of those new to the celiac/gluten sensitivity experience without having to cost them anything in the way of changing their manufacturing process or doing testing.
