Exhaustion

Malissa

Recommended Posts

Malissa Newbie

I was diagnosed with celiac just over a month ago and have been off gluten ever since. In a number of ways, I already feel much better. However, I seem to be growing more and more exhausted. Has anyone else experienced this in the early stages of being off gluten? Thanks for your input!

Have you had your iron and B12 levels tested? How about your thyroid? I can relate to what you're saying- it's been three months for me and I'm kind of in the same boat. My ferritin levels are very low though and I'm getting iron injections which help a lot. I'm also learning that healing takes energy and I need to give my body a break and rest often

Hi Malissa,

I do remember being very exhausted.  Needing naps, etc.  Like the previous poster said if you haven't had your B12 and ferritin checked, do that.  Also add vitamin D to the list.  Mine was low, as was my ferritin.

Thyroid issues can cause exhaustion as well...if you haven't had your thyroid checked recently,  now would be a good time: TSH, Free T3, Free T4, TPOAb and TgAb  are the tests to ask for.

Your body is healing and that takes time and energy.

I hope that you feel better soon!

Your response on this matter is what I expect. You’ve had a similar episode years ago, but this one is lasting longer!

I'd like to clarify: Is the pain you describe in the area just below your chest constant, or does it only appear when you start moving?

Thank you for the links to the articles.  Interesting reading. I'll be telling my brother in law because he has a lot of pain
