I have tried reading thru all of the posts, but I haven't found anything yet. If anyone out there is from the Chicago area and know of a good doctor, please, I need a referal. After reading many of the posts I realize I am doing a lot of things wrong, I just want to get on a right track and not feel like this disease has gotten the best of me. Please, anyone?

hi there. i am from Chicago and am seeing a very good doctor at the University of Chicago. Her name is Dr. Carol Semrad. I am not going to lie - she is not the most personable doctor out there, a little on the dry side - but she knows a lot about celiac. I also see a dietician at the U of C by the name of Dr. Beth Wall. During my first visit she sat with me for over an hour and had this huge bag of food that she gave me - taking each item out and explaining to me all about the food i can/can't have. She was actually the most helpful, in my opinion. I would recommend the dietician absolutely. have you already been diagnosed??

Is this doctor for you or for your child?? there is supposed to be this excellent doctor at U of C- one of the leading doctors in the USA for celiac - but he will only see children. We have tried to get into him - but it won't happen. Kids only.

Is there anything else i can answer for you??

She used to take supplements, but her abdominal pain is so debilitating that she hasn't been able to continue.  Her primary care team has been suggesting liquid supplements rather than pill form to help.  They just drew a lot of blood Friday and we are slowly getting all that work back.  I will definitely check into thiamine!  Thanks!

They have not done that yet.   We are looking at some other treatments to help. And you are correct.  The tickborne illness has been a wild ride.  Our whole family has been battling different tickborne illnesses.  Its expensive and exhausting.

I cannot tolerate it at all - triggers burning and nausea, ditto aspirin.  Here in the UK I take Paracetamol.

For back pain, I take a combination of Cobalamine B12, Pyridoxine B 6, and Thiamine B 1 (in the form Benfotiamine), which have an analgesic effect.  These three B vitamins together work way better than those over the counter pain relievers.  Theses are water soluble B vitamins that are easily excreted via the kidneys if not needed.  Thiamine will also help the nausea. Interesting Reading... Mechanisms of action of vitamin B1 (thiamine), B6 (pyridoxine), and B12 (cobalamin) in pain: a narrative review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35156556/#:~:text=Some of these processes include,Analgesics
