Diagnosis Process & Timing

I've recently been to my GP 3 times in the last 2 weeks.  It started with a rash on my side that was diagnosed as shingles.  About 5 days later, a different extremely itchy rash developed on my thighs, buttocks, lower back and biceps.  Small red and raised, but  would become hive like once inflamed.  I went back to the GP one more time where they prescribed prednisone until I could see the dermatologist (tomorrow).  I've never even considered this being celiac as I don't have any digestive issues outside of diarrhea after lunch which I've always attributed to coffee consumption. Just trying to gauge the possibility for celiac going into tomorrow's tests. Thanks

Hi!  You might have a rash rash called Dermatitis Herpetiformis (DH).  It can be tricky to get a diagnosis and not all dermatologists do the skin biopsy properly.  Read through our DH section to understand the technique involved.  Learn about celiac blood testing here, but keep in my those with DH can fail the blood tests.  Most of their antibodies can be found in the skin.

      Thanks for your input.

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.

No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done recently?

Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
