Possible sensitivity?

At first I thought it was because I ate too late one night because the next morning I woke up with sulfur burps and upset stomach and then I took Zantac 150 and Pepto and I was fine. Well, the next day I didn't eat so late but again I woke up the next morning with the same symptoms with the addition of horrible smelling gas that I couldn't even stand. The treatment was the same and the symptoms went away. The common thing between both nights were I consumed bread. I decided to give up bread for a few days and everything was just normal until today. Yesterday I ended up eating a chicken wrap from Wendy's. It was a flour tortilla and then I also had the chicken nuggets as well (since it was the 4 for 4 deal). I ate around 5pm and didn't go to bed until 10pm, so I know it wasn't because I ate too late. I woke up again this morning with sulfur burps, smelly gas, and upset stomach. I again have taken the Zantac 150 and the gas and burps seem to have calmed down.

This has happened before and I have gone off of bread/wheat products for almost 2 weeks and I felt great. My stomach felt great, no issues; however, I slipped back into my usual bread eating ways. Does this sound like sensitivity to anyone else?

If you suspect celiac disease you need to get tested, You HAVE to be eating gluten daily for 12 weeks for the blood test. Please read up.

Sulfur burps with bread, do you get them with sugars, starches also? Might be more of issue the SIBO or Candida the gas build up is a result of the bad bacteria feasting on the simple starches/sugars. Look it up, the cure is normally a antibiotic or herbal regime in addition to a low carb diet to starve off the bad stuff the a probiotic regime to get the good stuff in.

Here is a link that talks about sensitivities, intolerance, celiac, sibo etc.

I didn't ask a doctor about this actually. I did ask several doctors a long time ago and they told me gluten has nothing to do with hashimoto's. One of them told me to do a gluten challenge to test for celiac, but at the time I was in graduate school so couldn't afford to be even more ill than I was. If you have the symptoms, I really don't advise you to do a gluten challenge. It messed me up mentally and physically for months. At the same time, I benefitted from doing the challenge in the sense that it convinced me that all my symptoms were truly from gluten - even stuff like insomnia! So now I am terrified to eat gluten, whereas before I would have a little once in a while and not notice anything dramatic.

I am in a similar situation where I can't feasibly do a gluten challenge but have all the symptoms and I have 2 celiac genes. I'm curious if your doctor advised you to eat as if you had a diagnosis or if they were more dismissive about it.

Negative, although I had most of the symptoms of celiac disease. I now eat as if I had a diagnosis.

While it's always important to approach internal use of essential oils with caution and ideally under the guidance of a qualified professional, your experience highlights the potential of complementary approaches when traditional medicine falls short. Many in the community are also interested in the intersection of natural wellness and gluten-free living, particularly for managing systemic inflammation and its various symptoms, so sharing your story is valuable. Your observation that it may also be helping with bloating is fascinating, as that could point to an overall reduction in inflammation. Thank you for sharing what is working for you!
