I don't know if y'all know this..I have never even heard of this restaurant, but I am posting this!

Have you ever heard of Fresh City Restaurants?

Well they have a Gluten-Free menu! So either click above and look for "nutrition" OR here it is. Either way their site is nice, and worth checking out! And some gluten-free's are also CF's for those of us (or those with special kids on "the diet") that are Casein Free as well!

I actually either read this somewhere, or saw it on the news. I was so excited. I used to work in Needham, MA and go their all of the time before my Dx. Can't wait to go back now!!!

I actually either read this somewhere, or saw it on the news. I was so excited. I used to work in Needham, MA and go their all of the time before my Dx. Can't wait to go back now!!!

I just ate here with my mother yesterday. She ordered their 2 for combo with chicken and rice soup + small chicken caesar salad. I ordered a caesar salad DRY (no dressing, I am allergic to soy too) with the sharp cheddar cheese, carrots, cucumbers and chicken. We told the girl taking our order that we are gluten free and are ordering from the gluten free menu. We requested no croutons and NO bread on the side.

The order came to our table while my mom was using the restroom. The man put our dishes in front of me and there were HUGE hunks of bread on the side. I was so shocked I didn't know what to do. My mom returned and she was shocked as well and took our orders back up (we obviously could NOT eat that) and the man was very reassuring and apologized and said he would make us a new order. He did and brought it to our table, new salads with no croutons and no bread. Perfect. Then my mom tried to eat a bite of her soup but stirred it up and noticed A NOOODLE in the soup. Chicken and rice on the gluten-free soup menu - this is not what should happen! She ended up NOT eating the soup and sharing my salad with me (which was large). We didn't even bother going up for a refund or to tell the manager about the soup.

I might eat there again, and be VERY clear next time, but the education about gluten-free is strangely missing since they advertise it everywhere on the website and at each location.

Just thought you all should know!

      Bob red mill gluten free oats

      Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified...

      I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. I wish I had known of this at the time of her diagnosis, life would have been much easier.  I hope you are able to figure out.

I almost said no because she made it in her kitchen but I thought it would be ok.  Next day and for a few after his behavior is awful. Hitting, rude, disrespectful. Mainly he kept saying his legs were shaking. Is this a gluten exposure symptom that anyone else gets? Also the bad behavior?

But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.
