Antibody levels

I was diagnosed with celiac 11 months ago, since I’ve obviously been on a gluten free diet and doing great. When I was diagnosed my antibody levels were around 55 and everything I read said that you could expect the levels of antibodies to go down by about half every six months. I was just re tested and my levels are now at 3. This seems super quick to be down that low, is it possible my first test was a false positive?

Hello, your levels were not that high to begin with so it is perfectly possible for them to drop to 3 in 11 months. There are people whose levels dropped from almost a 1000 into the negative in that period of time. Halving in 6 months is just a ball park and for many it is quicker than that. I think you should celebrate that they normalised. Are there other reasons that you would suspect your initial test to have been false postive? Were you confirmed by a biopsy?

No I never had the biopsy my doctor said the elevated antibodies and the fact that my symptoms disappeared after going gluten free was enough to diagnose, which is good because I was unwilling to go back to feeling like garbage to have it done

You’ve probably just done an excellent job of avoiding gluten! Congratulations.

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
