Me gene results came back. DQ2.5 - positive, DQ2.2 negative DQ8 positive. Is it possible to have such a combo? Does it mean anything?

Also, the blood stayed in the fridge for almost a week before testing because we had work-free days in my country in that time. I'm wondering how possible is false positive result in this context.

Your gene results indicate a combination of DQ2.5 positive, DQ2.2 negative, and DQ8 positive. While it's less common to have this particular combination, it's not unheard of. The presence of DQ2.5 and DQ8 does increase the risk of celiac disease compared to the general population, as these genes are associated with an increased susceptibility to developing the condition. However, having these genes doesn't guarantee that you will develop celiac disease; it only indicates an increased risk.

Regarding the blood sample being in the fridge for almost a week before testing, it's essential to consider that prolonged storage can potentially impact the accuracy of the results. While modern laboratory procedures are designed to minimize errors, it's still worth discussing this concern with your healthcare provider or the testing facility to understand how they account for such factors and whether any adjustments were made during testing to ensure accuracy.

Welcome to celiac.com, @Teaganwhowantsanexpltion! Joint pain is a well-established symptom of celiac disease. But joint pain may also be caused by other medical problems such as rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc. Make sure you share these concerns with your physician so that he or she can initiate testing or make referrals to specialists. As someone with celiac disease it is very important that you be consistent with the gluten free diet.
