I had a upper GI done on wensday and i got back my results yesterday, they said that i look perfectly normal in my upper intestines but my lower intestines have folds? im just wondering what they meen by that? he says its a symptom from celiac disease and hes almost positive thats what i have now. Is more testing needed or is this good enough to make the call on celiac- or can the folds meen something else also that my doctor is not telling me?? im asking these questions because my real doctor is out of town tell tuesday so i talked to the on call doctor about my test results and all he said was you have folds in your small intestines and thats a sign of celiac disease.

Hopefully your G.I doc took some small samples from your bowel (biopsies) which will be looked at under a microscope. This will give a clearer picture of whether you have celiac disease or not.

The damage seen under the microscope that coeliacs have is called villous atrophy.

Biopsies can take a week or more to come back-so hopefully you will know more when you speak to your G.I,but the 'folds' that he could see with the naked eye are indicative of celiac disease.

Good Luck :)

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
