Still Pumping Away..

I followed up with lactation and did go to la leche meeting. I never thought I would become so obsessed with my own boobies :).

We are still pumping away. La Leche agreed with lacation and said she is indeed ineffectively BFing, and I have a low supply and its like which came 1st chicken or the egg... they suggested medications, and I wont take them..I am trying Mothers Milk starting today and I bought a 6 pack of gluten free beer at Earth Fare.

It seems the consensus is to continue pumping and supplement with formula, until something happens. (I either give up, my supply dries up, or it miracouly goes up)

I was surprised to hear that they agreed to much of pumping and BF'ing wont get me anywhere.

Thanks for all your help! We are getting into a routine here, and my goal is to try and keep pumping until I go back to work in September, and she will be 3months and her digestive system is up and working properly.

Good for you! I know what you mean--I never even looked at my own breasts until I started breastfeeding, and then they didn't seem like my own body andy more, they seemed like milk bottles suck to me! :P

How often are you pumping, and do you have a decent pump? (Sorry, they probably covered this at the La LEche meeting already.)

My pump is the hospitals..Medela Symphony.

I am pumping every 3 hrs no matter how long she can go without eating.

If it gets to the point where the baby needs more than you are producing, if you pump every 90 minutes or so (even if it's jsut for half a day and then go back to every 3 hours), your milk supply will increase by the next day.

It might seem like it's not at first--the second time you go to pump (after 90 minutes), you will feel like you're practically empty! But that's just because your breast isn't used to being asked to make that much milk that often. After 1-2 days of this, it'll get the idea.

When I was first told this, my first reaction was, "No WAY will I ever do anything like that!"

Then I had a child with multiple major health issues. At that point, there wasn't anything I wasn't willing to try to benefit his health.

I didn't want to try med either, but finally did and I am sooooo glad. I'm on Reglan and it about doubled my supply. You only take it 2 weeks, so it's not a long term thing. After it kicks in, it eases the stress, which makes it easier to make more.

Good for you for working so hard at it!!!!

Some interesting articles regarding the use of Zinc Carnosine to help heal gastric ulcers, gastritis and intestinal permeability. I would consult a medical professional about it's use. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncpgasthep0778 https://www.rupahealth.com/post/clinical-applications-of-zinc-carnosine---evidence-review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7146259/ https://www.fallbrookmedicalcenter.com/zinc-l-carnosine-benefits-dosage-and-safety/

He is. Which makes everything even more difficult. I’m not a believer in “staying for the kids” but I have nowhere to go and it’s not just me, it’s me plus my babies. We live in a beautiful place, lots of land in the country and me and the kids love the place we’ve called home for their entire lives. But Im seeing that he’ll never change, that my kids deserve a happy healthy Momma, and that staying in this as is will be the early death of me. Then I look at the scars covering my entire body…this disease and the chronic stress I’ve been enduring for years that tell me I’m no longer beautiful and no one will ever look at me with interest again. I try self care, try to give myself grace so I can just start loving myself enough to gain strength but the slightest sparkle in my eye and skip in my step attracts his wrath and it all comes crashing ten fold. Life is just absolutely railing me from every single direction leaving me wanting to wave that white flag bc I don’t feel like there’s much hope no matter what happens.
