Question Re Your Symptoms After Eating "toxic" Foods

By that I mean the main culprits for Celiacs; rye, barley, wheat , malt... Aside from the excruciating gastritis they produce, do you feel.

1. That the food just sits for hours and your body struggles to move it though.

2. Your heart beats faster because your body is working so hard and you can feel it pounding from your stomach to lower intestines..

3. The feeling like you are unable to absorb any fluids into your body, leading to dehydration hence extreme fatigue.

Someone mentioned electrolyte imbalance and this makes sense because if we are unable to absorb anything when the villi is 'sick", that would include nutrients such as potassiom and sodium. The only way I can describe the feeling, is like a plant that has not been watered. When removing the above foods, ther relief, rehydration, calming of my intestinal tract is almost immediate. (After getting through the toxic reaction).

Before I was diagnosed I used to drink tons of pedialyte. I had no clue what the heck was wrong with me, but I knew all the trips to the bathroom were wiping me out physically. Just like when my kids would get the flu I try to pump them full of pedialyte to keep them balanced. It actually helped, for a few hours, but in the end the celiac always won.

Ive experienced the same thing. I often would wake up in the middle of the night to go tinkle. My doctor told me not to drink so much water. But I really didnt. I could drink just a few sips and I would be off and running. Its the bodys inability to absorb the fluids properly but I not sure I understand exacly why this would happen with a gluten intolerance or celiacs.

Before I went gluten-free this summer, I would often go out to eat and I made some bad decisions like that fluffy warm bread and butter that would be waiting at the dinner table. After eating it, my food would untimately end up sitting in my stomach for hours on and end. Not digesting. and yes my heart would pound because my body had to work so hard to process it. It amazing, the power of food. Since Ive been gluten-free things are improving slowly but surely. :)

Yikes. I get up to "tinkle" at least twice a night. Thought that was normal for me. Will see now if anything changes though with gluten free. Living on protein shakes at the moment to choke down all the antibiotics for the ulcer but feeling great.

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
