Will be traveling to the West and Northwest areas of Chicago in about a week, and thought while I was there, I might like to do some gluten-free shopping. Any good health food stores in the Palatine, Elgin, Aurora area that anyone knows of? I won't have a lot of time, so I can't stray too far off course! Thanks!

Trader Joes or Whole Foods would probably have the most stuff. Whole Foods in Wheaton, I believe it is, is a big supporter of the gluten-free Group up there.

I love Trader Joes. Miss it a lot.

There's several of both of these stores scattered all around up there.

Hi!

There is a store called the Gluten Free Market that is in Buffalo Grove, IL. It is about 10-15 minutes away from Palatine. The entire store is Gluten Free food. That would probably be the easiest for you. Their website is Open Original Shared Link.

There is also a decent health food store called Fruitful Yield, their website is Open Original Shared Link. There is one in Wheeling, Schaumburg, Aurora, and South Elgin, but I know the one in Schaumburg is changing locations this upcoming week and is a mess. Other than that, there are Trader Joe's in the area and their is Whole Foods in Palatine.

There's also a store called Sunset Foods, has several locations, which have a good gluten-free selection. Kim.

Try a Woodman's if you will be around one. They have a pretty good selection, but the biggest bonus is that they are cheap. (At least when compared to the health food stores.)

There is a great store in North Aurora on butterfield Road just east of Route 31. Special Order Market has it's own bakery on premises and has a website - specialordermarket.com

You can see what they have in stock as well as stop in to see what has been baked. You can place an order through e-mail and just pick it up. They are great.

      If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly...

      No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

      Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done...

      Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
