I see the board is back! Yay! Had some trouble logging in, though...seems that it's gone back to user name instead of email addy?

We just upgraded to the latest version which was an all-night event for me. I actually began yesterday at about 2PM and was supposed to take about 1 hour, but we had some problems. Anyway, I do not know all of the features, but there are supposed to be a lot of them. I hope everyone like it.

Take care,

Scott

I know, I was getting worried. When I tried this page at home last night all I got was a bunch of jarrgled symbols and some words I couldn't understand  This morning it kept saying it was down too....Now I finally can come back on!!! Talk about excitement!

I got confused with the username too....don't feel left out :) I have my self as constantly logged in at home, so a few weeks ago I finally figured out to use my email addy, this morning it took a good 5 tries before I saw it said username...I blame it on the rain

i just signed in (1120 am, et) with my email address. :) happy to be back.

thanks for your hard work, scott.

I've got my browser set to remember logins, so it remembered that it used my email address. Today the board didn't recognize it. I needed to use my username instead.

I'll have to explore around and see what's new. :) I have noticed that the board layout doesn't look quite right in Firefox for Mac though..."Blogs" is bumped down out of the menu.

Michelle

Edit: I've since tried it in Safari...looks perfect, but the browser is slower than molasses (I think the last Safari upgrade screwed it up,) so will have to stick with Firefox for now. I checked the login info again too...seems it wants you email address to login on the front page, but username when using the "login" page.

I didn't have to log on :o glad to be back, though.

It's going to be fun figuring out all the new options :D

Thanks Scott!

Wow, going to have to explore some.

I had to log in using my email address. Haven't had to log in for about 4 months now since I switched to DSL.

I had 3 people contact me to find out if I was having troubles getting on.

I must have a reputation for being on here all the time.:lol:

Seriously though, I have been cutting back my time. :D

Hey, Scott,

Can you set the board up so that folks can long on with either their email or their user name? I've seen this done on other boards.

Spell check.....hoorah!

I found that, but I think that I need a users guide for the rest of the new stuff

Thank for all your work Scott, it is much appreciated.

Spell check? Is it automatic? Will it allow Canadian spelling, like neighbour, colour, etc? :P

I have a simple observation. In my humble opinion, the "Top" button is waaaay too close to the "Report" button. I feel that is would too easy to accidentally hit "Report", when intending "Top", causing issues for the Monitors.

I too found I could not enter the site yesterday. I always think its me doing something wrong but I knew the site must have been down .. Now, here we go again learning all the new stuff......

Thanks Scott for keeping this site up & running... I would be lost if you ever stopped... This site is my lifeline to celiacs as there is no close-by support group.

Thanks to all the posters who have helped me out with info ...

Hi Guys,

will try (ha) to misspell something..( you all know what a speller I AM NOT)..

Scott love all the new features..now to figure out how to use them  Thanks for all the hard work.

We appreciate all that you do. Like the new 'spelled out rules and think the troller one is new..thank god it's there.

Maybe this will help the moderators some..and you too to squelch some troublemakers at the 'get-go'

splling.

Ok Lisa, i give where is the spell check??

I'm a ditz, I know it..but misspelled 'splling or spelling' and it didn't automaticaly correct it.

It is on the upper right after you hit reply. I am not sure that it is activated. When I click on it it shows a little hand  If someone know about this, please post. I'm still reading "computers for dummies".

Everytime I click on "ABC-check", I get a pop-up blocker alert. Help anyone?

Scott Adams Grand Master

I didn't realize that there was a spell checker but am happy they added it (where is it?). Perhaps someone should start a "New Board Features" forum to discuss how to use the new features...as we figure them out...

Take care,

Scott

I'm not seeing a spell check button. Hmmm, I wonder if it is browser specific? I'm not seeing it built into the board though.

The pop-up blocker is an alert from your browser. Which one do you use?

I'm not really noticing any new features, but that may be because I put in my own BB Code rather than using the preset buttons. It would be nice if someone could start that new thread and walk us through the new stuff!

This is strange.... I clicked "add reply" and I see it currently in the upper right. When I click on it, a pop-up come up , "ie Spell Not Detected. Click OK to download page"........so what the heck does that mean. This has also has unabled, MY computer spell check. It obviously is not working properly.

Judyin Philly Enthusiast

Judy:

I can go back to MY spell check, I just asked for both to do the same duty, and my computer got confused. Sounds like I know somthin, don't it.

RiceGuy Collaborator

Wow. I haven't been on for a while, and had to use my email to log in even though the prompt asks for username. I did see though that the field says "email address", but since I have my browser set to remember the log in, it replaces it. That may be why some have more trouble than others.

Vitamin A is important for vision health. But be careful in supplementing it as it can lead to toxicity. Research it and consult with your medical professional. I do not have a definite answer to your original question but I was pursuing the possible cause of nutritional deficiency. But your visual deterioration could be unrelated to your celiac disease so don't rule that out.
    • Name
Currently 19. Doctors think I was 1 year old when celiac started, but I wasn't diagnosed until 18, because they didn't do lab work on minors. I've been on a strict gluten-free diet for 14 months now. For example only certified gluten-free nuts and I've researched best brands a lot. I take B vitamins, vitamin D, vitamin C, Curcumin with black pepper, black sesame and green tea extract, magnesium, iron, and a little selenium and zinc, beef liver capsules. I recently had my vitamin and mineral levels retested and D is the only one I don't have enough of now. I had my eyes tested at 17 and they were good back then.

Not everyone with dermatitis herpetiformis needs to avoid iodine. DH is caused by gluten exposure, but iodine can worsen or trigger flares in a subset of people, especially when the rash is active or not yet controlled by a strict gluten-free diet. Some people react to iodized salt, seaweed, shellfish, or iodine supplements, while others tolerate normal dietary iodine without problems. In most cases, iodine restriction is individualized and often temporary, not a lifelong rule for everyone.

Questions: How old are you now? How long ago were you diagnosed as having celiac disease? Do you practice a strict gluten-free diet? Are you taking vitamin and mineral supplements to offset the nutrient malabsorption issues typical of celiac disease and if so, can you elaborate on what you are taking?

My vision was good as a teen and now has gotten worse in the last year. Could that be caused by my celiac disease?🤓😎🥸👓🕶️
