Hi there!

I just got the numbers from the kids lab work. I was curious to see what others numbers were and how severe the celiac disease was when digosed.

Shaylin (18 months) #169. She was severly sick.

Jiselle (4 years) #216. No symptoms. Tested because of Shaylin.

OK.

IgA testing scale that this lab(lab corp) used for both the girls tests are :

IgA~ 0-3 = Negative

4-10= Weak Positive

10 and over = Positive

Congrats to your DD on her birthday! Jiselle just turned 5 yesterday! :D

Shaylin's bio. came back + for celiac disease yesterday. I am just so glad that we finally got an answer to why she is so sick. She has been gluten-free since last Wednesday and she is doing so much better, but we still have a long way to go.

Holy cow those are some high IgA's. Yeesh. No symptoms on Jiselle? I found out right a long with them that I have it. Well, I read about it in "Living gluten-free for Dummies" and found out for the 1st time that I couldn't eat pasta/bread/bagels/cookies/cakes/ect. because of a disease!!! And, I never would have thought that my kids had the same problem with wheat/gluten. They did not have any of my symptoms (GI related), but I read in that book ("Living gluten-free for Dummies") that celiac disease is linked to Autism-my Son, ADHD-my son again, Aches(bone/joint pain)-also my son, irritability-all 3 of my kids, short statue-all 3 of my kids, distended abdomen-my baby girl. I have since found out that there are several other neurological symptoms associated with celiac disease! A lot of which my kids and my self have. Check out this thread Open Original Shared Link. It's a really good read!

Oh, thank you, and congrats on your little girl turning 5! It's a fun age :P

Yeah, I thought the numbers were high too.

Jiselle really did not have any symptoms. I thought it was so strange that she had it. I thought for sure that my son would have it, but he came back less than 2.

I thought for sure that I would have it as well, since I have been anemic my whole life and the fact that I was dignosed with IBS with D in my early 20's, but my Celiac panel came back -. When I told my mom, she was so schocked that I did not have it too, that she could not say anything for a minute~ that is a truly rare thing for my mom to be speechless. :)

My son's tTG is only 8.4, but he's been on a gluten free diet for 4 months. Normal is below 7. We were given given the wrong blood test four months ago and went for a second opinion. I'm so frustrated since now I don't know if the biopsy will be accurate now. UUUUGG!!!!!!!!

When the Ig panels were run in August, our daughter's all came back within normal range. Our immunologist ran just about every one out there for us.

She had her ttg done on 10/27/06-- 480! Our Ped GI/lab uses anything under 20 as normal.

Her biopsy was done the same day and showed significant damage to the small intestine.

Her symptoms were: belly pain, gastroparesis, GERD, and frequently loss/gain of weight w/o diarrhea.

Absolutely my point with Kerrigan, the owner. She stood to secure many years of faithful patronage by simply inviting us in for a pastry or lunch. Or by simply producing another $50 e-card based on trust. We would have been highly satisfied. We are limited to a few restaurants in the area, and that would have been one. It was very disappointing, esp to my wife, to realize we can't patronize the place anymore.

You would think any business would see the wisdom of honoring a $50 gift certificate on the basis of customer satisfaction alone, apart from any questions about software glitches.

So there was no physical, plastic card involved, correct?

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.
