I certainly hope someone can help. I took antibiotics for 30 days for sinus and ear infections and wound up in the hospital with diarrhea and dehydration. Since that time, I have visited three docors and had a colonoscopy. The colonoscopy and bolld test show no Celiac, BUT, every time I put a piece of bread, a beer or anything with gluten in my mouth I get very, very sick. I am sending my test kit to Enterlab tomorrow, but can someone tell me if these symptoms are classic for Celiac and what can I take to help this situation: Diarrhea, extreme weakness and anxiety, tingling in the arms and legs, twitching and jerks of the hands, arms, legs and various body parts. If the twitching, weakness and anxiety would leave, I can handle the rest. What in the world do you do for this, other than gluten free, which I am now definitly sticking with. :(:(

I think it's more likely that you have a candida problem. Most wheat would feed the candida, and it's very common after a long round of antibiotics.

I'd look into a good quality probiotic. I take Ultra Flora, Therelac, and VSL#3, all available on the internet. I take them because I'm on long term antibiotics.

Also, it's good to take something to kill the candida. There are a lot of things for that, someone at your local health food store would be able to recommend something specifically for you.

Coconut oil is a natural anti-fungal. I use it instead of butter.

Eat NO sugar, NO yeast, and NO simple carbs (including fruit). You must do this to starve the candida. Mainly, you will be eating meat, eggs, and veggies, with some brown rice or oatmeal (if you can have gluten).

If you feel bad on this diet, that is a positive sign that candida is the issue. If it gets too painful, eat a piece of fruit to slow down the die-off.

Your doctor may be willing to prescribe Nystatin, which is a prescription to get rid of the candida, or if it's too bad Diflucan.

If it continues after treating the candida, I'd look at something else. My Lyme Disease became active after a 21 day round of antibiotics ... it was in remission prior to that. Celiac can also be triggered by an illness, but it seems that you've already done that testing (the colonoscopy cannot test for celiac, it's tested by a biopsy of the upper bowel).

I hope you feel better soon. Welcome to the board!

Thanks Carla, I will consider that. I think maybe I should have given more explanation, but am so darned sick and scared of this, I can't think straight. I was very sick and dehydrated when I was hospitalized in early March. They thought it was C Diff due to the long term antibiotic use, but the test was negative. I now know that C Diff does not show up 0% of the time in testing. After seeing an internist and a GI, having he colonoscopy, and four different blood test for Celiac, they say I don't have Celiac, but rather IBS

. BUT the symptoms are so similar to others: spasmodic jerks, numbness in the extremities, weakness, diarrhea when I eat the wrong thing.I have found noone on the IBS forum who has these symptoms. Guess I will have to wait to have the Enterolab results before I know for sure. I have misssed a month of work and am considering retiring in June, but don't want to if I am going to get better. Thanks for listening.

Sorry you're feeling so bad. Check out Open Original Shared Link, symptoms ... see how many on the list you have. If you want more info on this, please PM me so we don't stray too far from celiac and related disorders here. :) I can tell you about testing, etc. I'm sending you there because the neuro symptoms you describe sound a lot like Lyme. So does the inability to work ... even gluten intolerance can be from it (not celiac, they're not related, though it could trigger celiac).

I don't buy IBS as a "disease" ... nor Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue ... they are descriptions of symptoms. You are doing the right thing educating yourself. If it weren't for my self-education, I wouldn't know what's wrong with me.

Your symptoms do sound much like gluten, have you tried the gluten free diet yet? Did they do an endoscopy? Celiac damage can not be found on a colonoscopy. Also the blood tests are notorious for false negatives. I am glad you are going with Enterolab and would also suggest you try the gluten-free diet for a couple months.

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
