I am traveling to Western Caribbean on a cruise this summer...new to gluten-free...not worried about the cruise ship but can't imagine going to all these great ports and not trying the local foods that's always been our favorite part of travel..any suggestions on what to try in Jamaica, haiti, Cozumel, Grand Cayman..... ??

Don't eat items from Street vendors in Jamaica, Haiti and Cozumel. I would stick with fruits, vegetables, and grilled items. You should be safe eating most dishes in Cozumel that have corn tortillas but stay away from sauces that are chili con carne - they may be thickened with flour. The sauces made from chilis should be fine such as verde sauce as they are not typicaly thickened with flour. I just spent a week in Mexico without getting sick.

Jamaica Jerk - should be OK but I would ask the cook what they are using for flavoring. People are very nice generally and very responsive.

The places you mention are all well known for their seafood. I would go to town on grilled fishes of all types. The big thing I would miss is Red Stripes in Jamaica and Corona's in Mexico.

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
