Hi all-

I started a new job yesterday, it is a great thing....Everything is better except for the fact of my food restrictions. You forget how foriegn this all is to other people! I work in downtown, you walk everywhere especially for lunch! I am unfamiliar with every resturuant and my department wanted to take me out to lunch. I regretfully declined, but it still is so hard to explain this stuff to everyone around you for the first time.....it is going to take months! Anyone know of any cafe or resturaunt in downtown Tampa???

I understand what you are going thru. It happens to me at work also.

I usually tell people that I have food allergies, and they ususally understand. When I go out for lunch I try to find some salad with NO salad dressing (plain), I try vegetables, if I order any meet must be without any seasoning (plain) I will add lemon or salt at the table, and so far it have work for me.

In Florida we have the following restaurants, that accomodate people with glutem allergies, see if you can find them around the Tampa area.

Restaurants are:

PF Chang

Carrabbas Italian

Outback Steakhouse

Bonefish Grill

Legal Seafoods

I don't know of any restaurants for you but just wanted to say I know exactly how you feel! I'm waiting on a job offer and one of the things I'm worried about is telling and explaining about celiac disease! Can you research a few of the close restaurants and make a few calls so the next time they ask you have options? Congrats. on the new job!

My son recently got out of school and moved to Tampa. He is also celiac I will see if I can find some info for you. It is hard with a new town, new job and celiac. It can be so restricting. I will see what I can find out for you.

      Ibuprofen

      Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can...

      Ibuprofen

      Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce. Something is making my pain so much worse I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs. Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever...

In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
