Will I have ever learn all these names for gluten? I realized that I was still getting gluten. After I took my shower I was eating a gluten free snack. I can tell if I eat something right away. My eye gets kind of watery and itchy. I went through the ingredients on my body washes. Found two with gluten. One was a baby bath no less. The other was a CVS, compare to Dove. This really makes me mad at myself too.

sorry to sound totally ignorant, im very very new to this whole..gluten thing. but...how does one get gluttend from a body wash? dont you have to injest it somehow to get the effects?

Not a dumb question at all. The thing is that it takes a very, very small amount of gluten to get a reaction. In the case of body wash, it can be the spray from the shower that bounces off the shower curtain or door misting back onto your lips. Then the residue from the gluten dries on your lips. When you eat, the gluten comes off on your food when you take a bite.

Even if you're careful to avoid getting it on your lips, it's on your hands and you'd gluten yourself if you touch your food without washing your hands with gluten-free soap first.

For me, shampoo is the worst because I can't seem to stop messing with my hair or pushing it out of my face.

Thank you. I do think that it is unfair that they can use so many different names. Actually all my life I've had trouble finding soap, body wash, cosmetics, shampoo, etc. that didn't make me itch. I just could never figure out exactly what ingredient or ingredients were getting me. I've even had hypo allergenic get me. At least now I know why. Of course it isn't always easy to read the ingredients because they print them so small.

It sounds like you have a very reasonable GI doctor, who diagnosed you based on family history and symptoms after eating gluten. I would consider you lucky! The other option would be to make yourself very sick by doing weeks of a gluten challenge prior to an endoscopy.

Hi Colleen H,   I suffered with the pins and needles/burning feeling in my legs and feet for at least  6 years until my Nephrologist figured out that I had to go on a low salt diet.  He said my kidneys weren't strong enough to remove the salt.  The simple fix was a diuretic, but that med leaves the uric acid behind, so that wasn't an option.  On the bright side the low salt diet lowered my BP over 20 points and and the pins and needles/burning feeling went away.  Good Luck and hope this helps.

Yes this is very frustrating for me ... not sure what to think.  Feels like I'm having reactions to a lot of things  Now applesauce?? I don't understand 😞

I did ... But aren't we going to be vitamin deficienct if we are not eating due to being sick ?? If the food we eat is gluten free and we have other sensitivities , how do we get out of the cycle??  Thank you

Anyone else get pins and needles. ??? Burning feeling ? Heat makes it so much worse 😔  Winter is here.  I had to lower my thermostat because I couldn't take that hot air feeling 😔  Hopefully it goes away soon
