I Am Confused...

My 2 year old is recently diagnosed. I have been getting a lot of education but I am having trouble completely understanding. I have read many posts where people are disagreeing on what is gluten-freen and what is not. Some people eat something that others will not. My daughter is 2 so can't really tell me much but when she is older can tell me that her stomach hurts, can I assume that if something appears gluten-free and doesn't make her sick, that it is not doing hidden damage. And if she gets accidently "glutened" on occasion, will this cause damage that I need to concern myself about. Do some people tolerate things that others cannot and does this mean that they are damaging their villi and just don't know? Is there a certain level that each individual can tolerate that may vary from person to person. Pleae help!!

Is there a certain level that each individual can tolerate that may vary from person to person.

Short answer is Yes, each persons tolerance to gluten varies from mild to severe.

Some people eat something that others will not.

Some also have other intolerances along with gluten, this will account for some of this. Sometimes its a simple matter of how severe one reacts to possible CC (cross contamination).

And if she gets accidently "glutened" on occasion, will this cause damage that I need to concern myself about.

She will get accidental glutenings, it happens to everyone. The best case would be gluten eliminated from the world but since this wont happen anytime soon our best defence is knowledge and learning to read those labels... learn where its hidden, the federal laws where you live on labeling, and cleanliness.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
