The weekend before Christmas we took my stepson to dinner at Open Original Shared Link in Silver Lake. Actually we took almost the whole family and it was for his birthday. Anyways, they do have a gluten free menu but it isn't completely up to date with their current regular menu. The server was very helpful, I didn't ask for a gluten-free menu but she overheard me say something and brought me the menu. She told me what had changed since that one was printed. She also double checked and I was able to eat the spring rolls and the sauce on them. I will admit I didn't check the label, she did. I know that could have been bad, but I ended up eating a wonderful meal and not getting sick at all. NOTHING la la la so happy about that.

Open Original Shared Link on the other hand, I always get sick. The only one we eat at is in Alderwood mall and I always get sick. I can order a plain salad with vinegar oil dressing and get sick. I am not about to tell any server there I am eating the way I am for a reason, they are all young and I don't think they would get it. I didn't want to eat there but we were at the mall and I hadn't eaten and I figured the plainest of foods I might be ok. NOPE it is settled we won't eat there again. SIGH I got so sick. Thankfully it wasn't for days on end but it was not good. I know I have mentioned them before and I know I didn't want to eat there again but now I know, I would rather starve! Oh the irony, it practically is starving after eating there isn't it?

Next time you are at/near the mall, go to the Old Spaghetti Factory on 196th. They have a gluten free menu. You'll have to tell them "no bread", otherwise they will bring it. You might also try A.P. Barbara's, also on 196th. They do not have a gluten free menu but have been good to work with us on our food issues. Daughter usually gets a steak with no seasonings. I get the chopped sirloin. Or we get the hummus appetizer, subbing cucmber slices for the pita bread. We also dine frequently at the Old Country Buffet. We are very careful there, knowing that cross contamination is an issue. We tend to take only things that are freshly put out and we tend to stick to things like vegetables and plain fruit.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
