not sure if im posting this in the right place, if not please move.

I was wondering if anyone used the enterolab cost for taxes under medical care. I was hoping to use them to itemize my medical this year, but wasnt sure if anyone has done this, or how they can do this. It would be nice to claim mine and my ss cost.

I intend to do this if I go ahead and get tested, I usually deduct my medical expenses, however, my thinking off the top of my head is only the amount over 7.5% of your income is able to be deducted, someone else correct me if I am wrong? But I deduct any "alternative" healing Imight do, including chiropractic, accupuncture, etc.

Yes your medical has to be more then 7.5 % of what u make, but we have so much medical this yr and i know the 800 for the enterolab cost will help so much. But i was wondering what i would have to show for the cost, would i just show the amount i charged on my credit card, or would i have to get something from enterolab saying what it was for.

Sorry, I think I got you mixed up with another poster.

I hadn't been eating gluten free before having the antibody test done. I started eating gluten free after having the test done because the gastro PA told me to eat gluten-free for 6 months. I'm now 3 months in.

I tend to agree with RMJ. Your doc took the reasonable and practical approach to diagnosis. All things considered, it was the right way to go. However, if you have first degree relatives that show signs of possible celiac disease, urge them to get formally tested before they start the gluten free diet.

It sounds like you have a very reasonable GI doctor, who diagnosed you based on family history and symptoms after eating gluten. I would consider you lucky! The other option would be to make yourself very sick by doing weeks of a gluten challenge prior to an endoscopy.
