Dining Out

Hi--do any of you take your toddlers out to eat? We have a 2 year old who has been gluten-free for about 3 weeks and we are too scared to take her out to eat. We know eventually we will (maybe in a few years!). . .

Thanks!

Laura

We do but only very rarely. We've had good luck at Wendy's so far. When I order I really stress that she has serious food allergies (yes, I know it isn't an allergy but it seems to get a good response from the staff!) and that they need to change gloves before touching her food and that her food can't touch anything with wheat in it. We get her a bun-less cheese burger, the mandarin oranges, milk, and a chocolate frosty. Open Original Shared Link

The Wendy's we go to is very clean and you can clearly watch the cooks while they make the food. We are also careful to avoid the big rush times so that the cooks have time to be careful.

Hope to be of some help....

Chic-Fil-A not only has Several gluten free items, their website will list it and break down particulars on some that they've had questions about!

At McDonald's, my son eats a hamburger patty with cheese and a salad-they typically use Newmans Dressings and to the best of my knowledge all of those dressings are gluten-free. I usually bring a little something extra!

Also, at Wendy's, we get the broc&cheese baked potato w/o the cheese.

Those are the main fast food places I'm familiar with but on several of the different websites, I've found their allergen info.

As pointed out though, you have to be specific about do's and don'ts and sometimes you even have to get, dare I say, ugly when the zoned out teen taking your order misses the 'NO BUN' part! I then had to clarify that they couldnt just take the patty off the bun, that he needed a fresh patty. Usually when they know it's a safety issue, they're pretty good about it! Just every once in a while you get that one at the register.....

Good luck!!!!

It looks like their most recent clinical trial just finished up on 5-22-2025.

Dear Scott,  please check the link https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05574010?intr=KAN-101&rank=1 What do you think about it?

KAN‑101 is still very much in development and being actively studied. It has not been dropped—rather, it is advancing through Phases 1 and 2, moving toward what could become the first disease‑modifying treatment for celiac disease. https://anokion.com/press_releases/anokion-announces-positive-symptom-data-from-its-phase-2-trial-evaluating-kan-101-for-the-treatment-of-celiac-disease/

Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?
