Kissing

When is it ok to kiss my partner after he has eaten gluten? What does he need to do to be "safe" for me?

I am definitely getting contaminated from something lately and I am wondering if it's actually him! Is just brushing his teeth enough? Or mouthwash as well? Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

This sounds odd, but I think it depends on what type of kissing you are doing, lol

If he has wiped his mouth and doesn't have and crumbs or anything then I think a peck or two is ok.

But bushing teeth and mouthwash are a good idea before you attempt anything...ahem...more vigorous.

This is my general rule of thumb

good luck ;)

If I kiss my boyfriend when he's been drinking beer, I have a definite reaction.

So now we have a deal that he has to brush his teeth before we kiss, and I don't have any problems, so I think that just brushing is enough for me. B)

Okay thanks guys! I will ask him to brush first always from now on

It's a common sense type thing. Kissing has to be off limits when eating, that's a givin. You just have to be more careful. I have been gluten free for almost 8 yrs and have never been glutened by a kiss. Of course, just after he had eaten a sandwich, or something, I would just kiss him on the cheek. If he walks in the door, and I go to kiss him--he will immedietely tell me if he has eaten something he knows would be a problem. Of course, not everyone has a significant other who is that aware of gluten either. I try to be careful, but not paranoid!! Kissing is too important!

Thanks @Beverage for checking in!  I haven't changed the dogs' food yet.  I'm still working through some of the other issues that I need to remedy (transitioning to an anti-inflammatory diet, being sure to get only gluten-free certified items, and buying some new cookware for my kitchen).  Somewhere after that, I have on my list to try out the dogs on a new dog food, but I haven't gotten there yet.  In the meantime, though, I can definitely see that some of my worst days seem to follow when there's a possibility of gluten cross-contamination (I'm still working to cut waaay down on these instances) OR when I eat anything with dairy/ milk protein in it.  So I think I need to really get a better handle on my day-to-day eating habits to reduce all gluten cross-contamination into my food and also any dairy intake, and then at that point, I think I'll start moving over to the dog food thing.

Sounds like fun, and I was in Germany a few years ago so you might find these articles helpful:

I don't think you have the URL/site address correct, as there is nothing at that site.

Hello All I am traveling to Germany in October and will be in Berlin, Rothenburg ODT , Salzburg, Fussen and Munich.  I am also driving the northern part of the romantic road with stops in some of the smaller towns along the way.  I would really appreciate any recommendations for gluten-free friendly places, restaurants and any gluten-free beer gardens.  Thanks in advance, Laura
