Poor Little Zoey

Ursa Major

Yesterday my daughter and son-in-law took Zoey for her x-ray and they were so hopeful that her cast would come off (for anybody who didn't read my first topic on this- she broke her femur four weeks ago and is in a cast that goes from her left ankle right up to her ribcage, so she can only lie flat). It was their fourth wedding anniversary yesterday, too.

Anyway, the doctor looked at the x-ray and told them that it isn't nearly healed, and she needs the cast for another three weeks. When then they tried to book another appointment for in three weeks, they were told that doctor would be on holiday then, and they had to book it for in four weeks.

They asked if they could see another doctor, so Zoey could have her cast off in three weeks, but were told that wasn't possible. That makes me angry! There is a poor baby in this heat in that big cast, and they can't accommodate them somehow? Don't they have a heart?

The doctor said if he would take the cast off now, it would break again if only she would roll over in bed the wrong way. It doesn't seem fair.

But through all this, Zoey is incredibly cheerful, it is amazing. She is also getting very patient with her colouring. A month ago she was scribbling all over the place when colouring, like all two-year-olds. Now she won't leave a single speck white, and completely colours in the lines! I've NEVER seen a child her age (25 months old) colour in the lines before.

Oh well, I guess the next four weeks will pass soon enough, the first four weeks went by quickly.

Ohh, the poor, sweet baby! This is the age where they really get into playing outside, and the poor thing is going to miss 1/2 of her summer. :(

I agree, I've never seen a child that age be able to focus enough to color like that! She's going to be a smart cookie. ;)

Yes, she got a swing set with slide for her birthday (it is for her baby sister as well) from her parents and both sets of grandparents. She loved it so much, she would get up from her nap in the afternoon, run straight for the back door and say, "Go outside, slide?" And then wear herself out completely by climbing up and sliding down for hours!

She got to enjoy her new swing set for three days before she broke her leg. :(

And the weekend after this next one they are going to the cottage on Lake Erie (near Owen Sound) and she won't even be able to play on the beach and go into the water! But her other grandparents and aunts and uncles and a great-grandmother will be there to entertain her and take her for walks in her wagon. She'll get lots of attention and love from everybody, and I'm sure she'll enjoy that.

This is really helpful  I had not considered sugar alcohols or inulin as triggers. Thanks for the practical baking tips too color coding and baking G F first makes a lot of sense. Thiamax (TTFD) plus a B-complex, and if you want benfotiamine, the Life Extension formula covers that at ~100 mg.

High fiber can definitely cause sudden GI distress especially if it’s a new addition but accidental gluten exposure can feel similar. Keeping a simple food/symptom log and introducing new gluten-free foods one at a time can really help you spot the pattern. Thanks for asking  I’m mainly looking for gluten-free staples and snacks. Any recommendations for brands or go-to items would be appreciated.

sorry a bit confused so I should take my B complex along with Objective Nutrients Thiamax for TTFD but what about a Benfotiamine to take. The Life extensions contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine together or im confusing myself. I am trying to see if I take Thiamax what should I take for Benfotiamine. Thanks EDITING after further research I see ones water soluble ones fat soluble. So I guess 100MG as you suggested of Life Extension contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride. and the Objective Nutrients Thiamax contains TTFD.     would work for me.

I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.
