The Original Pancake House-2 San Jose, Ca Locations

We enjoyed Gluten-free blueberry pancakes (with blueberry compote and whipped

cream) at the Almaden Road, San Jose location on Sunday. It felt great eating

out with my family on a Sunday morning! I also talked with the owner

about other breakfast items celiacs could order.

She said that they could also cook eggs on a clean grill; they could

take the plain sausage (before they add their seasonings which

contain flour) straight from the package and cook it on a clean grill

with some salt and pepper; and could also cook plain potatoes (before

they add their seasonings which contain flour) on a clean grill with

salt and pepper. Since they make their own syrup in-house, she has

called and left a message with the manufacturer of the flavoring they

use for their syrup and will let me know if it contains any gluten.

If nothing else, if you order plain Gluten-free pancakes, you can always

bring your own syrup. If you like whipped cream on pancakes, be sure

to ask for it because it usually does not come on their pancakes.

The owner/manager of both the San Jose locations of The Original

Pancake House, Diana Khoury, is very knowledgeable about cross-

contact issues and is willing to go the extra mile for us. In case

Diana is not there when you dine, their chefs are also very

knowledgeable about cooking gluten-free. (I would also alert the

waiter/waitress as an added precaution, though). Her e-mail address

is dianaKhoury@comcast.net if you want to ask her any questions (hope

the e-mail address comes through - if not you can e-mail me). Their

hours are only 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and both restaurants are open

until 3:00 p.m. on Sundays.

Here are the locations:

1366 S. DeAnza Boulevard

The usual disclaimer - eating out is risky.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
