Hi Friends,

After reading another forum, I went to a site that I had not previously found. It was Karina's Recipes. Oh my gosh, it was like finding an oasis in the middle of a desert! I am new, and in week four. If you are new like me, I highly suggest taking a look. There is hope!

I have been doing well in my eating and am committed to this new lifestyle, even though it is tough. I am CRAVING something soft, warm, and comforting. I found a bunch of recipes I would like to try, but I don't know where to find these new gluten-free staples for my pantry. Where do I get things like sweet sorghum flour, xanthan gum, arrowroot starch, etc.? I live in a small town at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains. I am about an hour from the nearest Trader Joe's and Lassens. Does anyone know a good place to find these supplies on line? Thanks!

I can't help with online sources but if you do get out and find an asian market, they sell white rice flour, tapioca, potato starch and sweet rice flour for only cents per bag.

Be sure to order/buy the gluten free items, they sometimes sell both in the stores and look almost the same.

I am making the Pueblo Bread and the Breakfast Brownies today and they are both dairyfree/egg free/soy free/gluten-free.

I have the same problem, our small health food store is about 75 miles away...so I buy several bags at a time of each flour. Being new since May, I just started my 2nd bag of xanthan gum but I will slow down on baking now and start cooking more crock pot meals. Fall is in the air, 2 nights ago it was 38 degrees where I live.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
