Hi all,

I am going to be in Newark, NJ next month on business and I cannot for the life of me find anywhere local that I can eat Gluten Free. Anyone know the area? I see a Chili's near the airport and that's about it. Hoping to find a few options, I'm probably going to be there for a couple nights. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I can talk to you about Newark NJ....however it's a big city - where in Newark will you be headed? Downtown? Will you be renting a car when you get there? Will you be staying Downtown or near Newark Liberty Airport?

Even your general location in Newark will help me provide you with an answer.

Just recently another board member had to go to downtown Newark and they stayed at the Robert Treat Hotel and ate at the hotel because there are really no restaurants downtown (you have to make reservations for the better restauarants in Ironbound area and have a car available -- as for taxis, you should not use taxi unless your hotel can recommend one and the mass transit is dangerous there -- Newark IS NOT like New York City).

You may want to find those posts but I'll be happy to provide you with whatever help I can. You can PM me too if you'd like.

I have been in NJ but am not sure of any gluten Free restruants that I remember. I found this site where it has a list of restaurants.

      They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

      In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

      This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

      I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
