Gluten Free Labeling Or Ingredient Posting At Sporting Events?

RESO

Hello,

I went to a sporting event the other day and was unable to find anything at the concessions that I was able to eat. The people behind the counters couldn't guarantee me that the corn chips for the nachos were gluten free or even what was used on their meat to season it. They don't allow you to bring in food, though I managed to sneak in something because I had a feeling this might happen.

There are now food labeling laws that pertain to grocery items. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are plans to require ingredient labeling at places such as sports arenas and/or restaurants?

It would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance for everyone's time.

We have been going to the local high school football games and also was trying to find some food for my dh & dd to eat. I was also wondering about then posting info about the ingredients in the corn chips and nacho cheese. It is a public school and I did not know if they had to follow any kind of guidlines?

I have worked snack bars for youth sports and high school games. What we used was usually purchased at Costco or some other warehouse-type store. Stuff isn't opened until it's ready to prepare, so the containers are usually available, even if they have to be retreived from the trash. (eewww-gross but can be done if needed.)

I would suggest going around to the side at the school events and ask to see the ingredient labels. CC might not be as big of an issue as you might think, because at least where I worked, only one person handled the hot dogs and their buns. Everyone else just handled drinks, packaged stuff or money.

As far as professional or college evnets, I think some have reported that a doctor's notice stating that because of allergies you cannot eat the food available and must bring your own has worked. ;)

Thank you. I must have misinterpreted a study or something. Thank you for the clarification. Much appreciated. Almost three years into my celiac diagnosis and I'm still learning new things.

I wasn’t clear, glucagon and gadolinium were intravenous. I drank about 5 cups of the prep during 45 minutes. I feel very tired now, probably partly because I was nervous, and partly because I had to fast for 6 hours beforehand and wasn’t very hungry when I got home.

That seems at lot of solution to have put threw you when you already have bowel issues , I will phone them tomorrow because it's sorbitol I have reactions too, thankyou for the input how do you feel now ? I'm not sure I can keep still for that long with my back issues either unfortunately I didn't know it could take that long 😕

The solution I had to drink contained sorbitol and mannitol. I was in the MRI, lying on my back, for about 40 minutes. I was given glucagon partway through, and a gadolinium contrast agent. After I got home there was some diarrhea from the prep solution.
