When you first started going gluten-free, did you go through a phase where your body acted as if it was detoxing?

Detoxing as in major withdrawal from glutens and temptation to eat it anyway and starving all the time? yep!

What I mean is more like your body is getting rid of toxins or cleansing itself. I am breaking out more than usual, got a sore in my mouth, stuff like that. Just wondering if it's common to have some side effects at first until your body regulates itself, while you are in the transition phase.

I experienced that. Had to go to the bathroom more than normal, didn't have breakouts, but I felt like I was detoxing.

Here are mine (1 week gluten-free):

1. Severe headaches

2. Lower left abdominal discomfort/pain

3. Acne, hopefully will clear up soon, it's bad

4. Canker sores

5. Very tired

6. Very hungry for first 2 days

On the plus side, within a day or two my loose stools/undigested food in stools went away completely, and I've had periods where I felt amazing, not just my usual bla self. I also lost my grumpy irritability, which my wife is thankful about.

After 4-5 days I got heartburn pretty badly for about 3 days straight. Like wicked heartburn that ive never gotten before. Luckily that went away now.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
