I'm going to my family doctor today to have him take some blood to test for celiacs & food allergies. Are there specific tests I need to make sure he is running or will he know what he's doing? I'm just afraid b/c he's not a specialist he may not run exactly what I need to find the answers.

Hi there,

These are the tests you need for Celiac testing, you should print them out and take them:

Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA

Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG

Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA

Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA

Total Serum IgA

They all work in unison so you have to get them all to tell what's really going on.

Good luck :)

Thanks, I went to the doctor before I got this reply. I didn't see the doctor, the nurse just took the blood & I left. They took 2 viles of blood. Do you think that is all they needed run all of those tests? I'm hoping he is doing the full panel & not just a portion. They said 7-10 days for results. I'm hoping for 7 because I have an appointment with my GI doctor on the 20th & without the results it will pretty much be a pointless visit.

You can call the office and find out which labs were run, so that you know now.

      Thanks for your input.

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.

No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done recently?

Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
