Alcohol !?

Okay, so now I'm a bit confused. I had a list of gluten-free alcohols I've been refering to that said Hornsby's Ciders are okay, and that Woodchucks are not okay. (and the Woodchuch website said they can not verify they are gluten-free). So, then I looked at a delphi list that said the opposite--Hornsby's are not gluten-free, and Woodchucks are. Ah! Anyone have a definitive feeling on these? Also, what are some of the alcoholic beverages people do drink on the board? I used to love Smirnoffs triple filter malt beverages. :( Anyone have any ideas ?

Hornsby's Ciders are NOT gluten-free. Woodchuck, Ciderjack, Strongbow, are great and I haven't had any issues drinking them. All hard alcohols are technically gluten-free due to the distillation process even those that originated from grains. But, to be 100% safe avoid the ones that were distilled from grain. Additionally, some companies add fillers/flavorings that contain gluten so read the ingredients. Wines are great too. There are a few gluten-free beers out there gaining ground including Bi-Aglut in Italy, Ramapo Valley Brewing Company in NY, Bard's Beer in NY, and one near Montreal.

Thanks Scott. They are gluten-free but cross contaminated.

Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
