How To Do Gluten Challenge?

Went to a specialist today who is wants me to eat gluten until my endoscopy on Jan. 25th. He said to eat one "normal, gluten containing meal per day". Of course, my natural instinct is to go and get Chinese food or pizza, but I'm scared to death that I'll wake up at 3am and run to the bathroom. :(

How exactly do I handle doing the gluten challenge? Anyone have any tips/pointers/words of wisdom? ;)

I've read that you have to eat the equivalent of 3 slices of bread per day for a really long time for a postive result. You're braver than I am. I would rather chew nails than to do a gluten challenge. I've thought about it, and dismissed it in two minutes after thinking about how terrible I felt on gluten. Good luck to you. I hope it's not too bad!

I felt terrible too, but I NEED to know if I have to avoid any food that might have gluten, or not. I told the doc that I'd give it a try and if it becomes unbearable I'll quit. I just hope that about 5 to 6 weeks is long enough of eating gluten to get an accurate result- don't want to do all this for nothing!!

He also is doing the genetic test, and another blood panel, so I'm hoping that one way or another I'll get some accurate, informative results... finally. ;)

It looks like their most recent clinical trial just finished up on 5-22-2025.

Dear Scott,  please check the link https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05574010?intr=KAN-101&rank=1 What do you think about it?

KAN‑101 is still very much in development and being actively studied. It has not been dropped—rather, it is advancing through Phases 1 and 2, moving toward what could become the first disease‑modifying treatment for celiac disease. https://anokion.com/press_releases/anokion-announces-positive-symptom-data-from-its-phase-2-trial-evaluating-kan-101-for-the-treatment-of-celiac-disease/

Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?
