Gi All Messed Up From Gastritis

My lower GI & bowel issues were starting to resolve until i developed duodenitis back in October. I also went for an endoscopy when i was home for the holidays and between that and eating things i probly shouldnt have, my whole system is out of whack now. The gastritis has been giving me reflux, burping and severe discomfort after meals..I also decided to cut out fruits and fructose since i feel i may be intolerant to that as well. Ive been eating very small bland meals and am loosing more weight and now Im constipated again with thin hard stools.

I tried taking zantac in combination with licorice and some herbs my ND gave me - it helps here and there but the gastritis is not going away and now my lower GI is messed up as a result of trying to treat the upper GI...seems like if one area of the GI improves, the other one deteriorates....thats how i developed the gastritis..I was taking supplements to treat candida and c.diff and as a result my upper GI became inflammed.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Could changing my diet and removing things have caused the constipation? How can I treat my upper GI & lower GI simultaneously - this is getting out of control. im gonna become anorexic

Gastritis stinks, right? I had it so badly I was waking up retching in the middle of the night. I think mine was caused by the mega dose of iron I was taking and my gallbladder. I had my gallbladder out and it improved tremendously. The anemia wasn't resolving so I get iv treatments now. I have it rarely now, usually after I've had a few drinks. It's nothing compared to what it was.

I know you're having lots of trouble now. Gastritis is just awful. I didn't want to eat at all when I had it. Oh, I remembered--I tried taking the betaine(sp?) supplements to see if it that was the issue, and that made it MUCH WORSE!

I dont even have a severe case of it, but its still inflamed enough to cause problems. I can sleep ok, no pain and dont have stomach juices coming up into my throat - but its still very uncomfortable.

Why did you have your gallbladder removed? did you have stones? I recently had an ultrasound and it looked ok

I did a barium swallow and it looked abnormal on that. I had a small stone, but it was infected I guess. I had my RN friend recommend a surgeon and he told her to was one of the worst he'd seen and that I was risking pancreatitis because of the sludge. Nothing was too out of whack on my blood work, I just felt sick, sick, sick all the time.

I had a really easy recovery from the surgery and felt better within days. I only had mild issues with fatty foods briefly.

I know a lot of people have them removed and don't feel better, but it was the trick for me.

Ask if you have any questions. :)

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
