Play Dough Toys

Hi everyone,

My daughter is now using the gluten-free play dough but we have two huge bags of toys that she used with her gluten play dough before celiac disease. The toys are plastic and I was wondering if the dishwasher would remove the gluten?

I would say a hot dishwasher would do the trick for plastic toys. Watch out for crevices where the old playdough could hide!!

wash them really good in hot soapy water and use a toothpick for crevices, that should do the trick! Chey had no problems with the play dough toys once I washed them really good.

Oh and did the play dough recipe work ok for you???

Thanks for the info. I was really hoping that cleaning them well would work. Those toys can get to be pricey. She has a chicken that she's been dying to play with, she calls him "the filppin' chicken!" I'm going to wash them tonight and she'll be so thrilled tomorrow.

Nisla-The play dough worked perfect. She kept the play dough out all day! I would ask her if I could put it away but she refused. I think she was afraid it would go away forever. Finally before the nap I was able to convince her to put it away. Thanks again for helping...

      As far as I know and I have made severalonline searches, celiac disease disease has not been recognized as a cause of migraines or any eye problems. What I wrote must have been confusing.

      Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

      I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

      Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
