Negative Blood Test, But Is This Dh?

I have just recently had a blood test for celiac that was negative, and am waiting to get a referral to a GI doctor to have a biopsy. I have pretty much all the symptoms of celiac, and am wondering if this rash I have is related.

I get a rash periodically on my fingers on both hands, and in the same places on each hand, and also on each elbow. They are red and swollen (so much so sometimes that I have trouble bending my fingers), and eventually raises into fluid filled blisters. They are very painful and itch like crazy. It takes forever for them to go away, and when they do, the area stays red for a long time, and I have a ton of scars on my fingers and elbows now from where they have been.

Does this sound like DH? I have read about it being on elbows, but I haven't seen very much about hands...and that is my main problem area.

Those sound like classic DH symptoms. Make an appt. with a dermatologist to get a biopsy of an area next to a lesion to test for antibodies. (The biopsy must be from clear skin adjacent to an active lesion.) A diagnosis of DH is a diagnosis of celiac disease. Period.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
