Miralax For Severe Constipation

Ok, this is a question for a totally different child than the one I have been asking about these past few days. I am learning so much that now I am seeing some issues with other kids, even in retrospect! My now 8 year old son was a big baby at birth but as he approached his 1 year mark he dipped below the 10th percentile from around the 95th percentile for a good portion of his infancy. He loved to eat so I thought it was just a fast metabolism. When I weaned him from breastmilk and started him on solid foods he started having severe constipation and we tried all kinds of home remedies, OTC and prescriptions to get him to go. Miralax really helped but when he would poop it was a HUGE round, hard poop and smelled like VERY strong mothballs!!!!! If it got on my skin it was hard to get off. Now with my 2 year old I have been asking questions about and learning with I have learned that mothball smelling poop is a symptom and his poop reminds me of my now 8 year old old when he was still in diapers. I thought the Miralax was making his poop smell like that and when I asked others about a smell they looked at me like it's nothing out of the ordinary and searching on the net revealed no abnormal smells. Do you think it was a sign I never caught onto nor the doc? He still will have constipation even though we try and eat properly and eat whole foods with lots of fresh water. He's still very skinny and rather small for his age with several food allergies.

I’m in a flare up with rib pain. I read where others have experienced this after exposure to gluten.  Has anyone found something that eases the pain.

Scott Adams/Trents - Thanks!  I will definitely do some more research.  I welcome any and all advice.

Yes, I've read that online but I was just surprised that no one has mentioned it on this forum specifically.  We have not had our follow up meeting with the Dr where I'm sure she will advise as to how he needs to deal with this ailment.  I have learned from past health issues - if you want to find the REAL truth - talk to someone living with the disease.  THEY will know way more than any doctor ever could.    Thanks for responding.
