Had The Most Annoying Dinner Last Night

am in Nashiville for a conference and was planning a dinner w/ 2 of my colleagues who I eat out all the time with and they are aware of my gluten sensitivity - one of them decided to invite out a bunch of his customers and we all sat at this big round table at the restaurant. This made me a bit uncomfortable cause i never know how strangers will react to the whole gluten thing. the waitress went around the table & took orders and when she got to me i ordered my dish...everyone was extremely quiet and i could tell all eyes were on me, so i didnt say anything else. then as the waitress was about to leave & everyone started talking I leaned over and told her about the gluten thing & she said she would take care of it.

Dinner was long boring and the company sucked but thats besides the point. after dinner the waitress came back and handed out dessert menus - again everyone got quiet and then she practically yelled out..." OH & AS FAR AS YOUR GLUTEN ALLERGY WE DONT REALLY HAVE ANYTHING ON THE MENU THAT IS SAFE FOR YOU" - everyone looked at me and i felt extremely uncomfortable but I didnt act insecure or self conscious..at least i dont think i did.

Anyway, just venting on how much i hated dinner last night...wasnt even that good and i got indigestion after anyway :)

Sorry to hear about your dinner.

But really, you gotta try address the way you allowed yourself to feel about something, which is nothing to be embarrassed about. Though well done for not making it obvious. I cant believe they all went quiet when you ordered.

Honestly, It maybe they didn't understand and so watched curiously. But whatever their reasons, don't be embarrassed by an illness that's out of your control.

      Ibuprofen

      Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic.       Ibuprofen

      Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce. Something is making my pain so much worse I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs. Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever...

Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
