Could This Be A Symptom Of Celiac Disease?

Over the last year or so, I've had issues with highly excessive stomach rumbling and flatulence, but I considered it mild and didn't bother doing much of anything. Don't have insurance at the moment so I'd rather avoid a doctor if at all possible for now.

One thing I've noticed is this: I cannot seem to tolerate beer at all, especially not malt liquor. If I drink some, I pretty much spend the next day on the toilet with mild diarrhea and weird smelling stools. In addition to constant flatulence, stomach rumbling, and nausea. Usually lasts about a day.

If I drink wine or liquor I have no such problems.

Does this sound anything like maybe mild celiac disease?

It could be. Before I was diagnosed I used to wonder why I would have such a bad hangover from alcohol free beer. Turned out to be a gluten reaction. Your other symptoms do sound like they could be celiac related. Keep in mind that if you decide to give the diet a try that you will have to go back on gluten for about 3 months if you later decide you need a 'formal' diagnosis.

ya- totally sounds like the classic symptoms... whether you test or not or get any kind of dx- i think you should definitely consider eliminating gluten to see how your body feels- definitely worth a try in the end

Thanks for sharing this! Have you started taking the Amneal? I'm curious how it's going for you. My pharmacy gave me the option of Accord, Macleod or Amneal. I didn't realize that Amneal was formerly Lannett, or I might have chosen that one. However, I did read some anecdotal reports that some people had side effects with Amneal, so I chose Accord. I have been taking it for 3-4 weeks and the past 10 days I have developed extreme fatigue/sluggishness, joint pain and some brain fog. I don't know if it is the new levo med, but nothing else has changed. Has anyone else taken Accord levo? Any issues? It seems to fall into the "no gluten ingredients, but we can't guarantee 100%, but it's likely safe category." I'm wondering if it is worth switching to Amneal or at least getting my thyroid levels checked. If the med is causing my symptoms, I'm guessing it's not because of gluten but maybe the potency is different from Mylan and I need different dosing. Accord was recalled for lower potency, but my pharmacist said the pills I have were not part of that lot.
