You know ever since I went gluten-free I have had a harder time mantianing my wieght... I am eating LESS and gaining wieght a bit faster. I wonder if thats a another sign to confirm celiac disease? Im also not nearly as hungery as I used to be... but I still amd highly addicted to Rasins not sure why LOL but if theres rasins around, Im gonna eat them! Quantity limited only by time and advailbity LOL

Its easier for me to gain weight it seems. But I am still hungry all the time!

For the first 7-months of being gluten-free I pretty much stayed at the same weight no matter what or how much I ate. Now in my 8th month I have finally gained a few pounds back (which I hope is a sign that my intestine's are healing?).

I think it's different for everyone. I guess the main thing is if you are feeling better than that's good.

Best Of Luck!

Hi VydorScope,

Thyroid problems are common among celiacs. Has your doctor checked your levels? Hypothyroidism is too slow of a thyroid causing weight gain among many other symptoms. Hyperthyroid is too fast. There is also thyroiditis, and Hashimoto's thyroid disease. You can google them to check it out to see if you need to be tested.

Vydorscope,

I have had trouble with my weight as well once I went gluten-free. I have put on the weight, but my appetite had increased quite a bit, initially. I was wondering if the other flours that are used in our gluten-free stuff has a greater amount of carbs than wheat flour? I have cut out a lot of the gluten-free breads that I was eating and have included a little more exercise than before and seem to be maintaining my current weight, albeit I am still 10 pounds more than I ever weighed before. It's probably an individual thing more than anything else I think, because I have also read that several still have difficulty gaining weight. Funny what are bodies will do!

Its just before going gluten-free I was losing wieght fast, such that I littelry was eating very high carb foods just to get to a level that would keep me stable... since going gluten-free I have cut out all thouse high carb foods, not even gluten-free Breads realy... and I am up about 6 pounds now. Granted 6 pounds is nothing on my frame, and I am sure I can get it back under control (...err hope LOL) before its is somthing... just wondering if thats a sign that my body is healing and if it helps support the celiac disease diag?

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
