Positive Biopsy For Celiac Sprue

Hi. I'm new to this board. I had a positive result for celiac sprue when I had my endoscopy, but the Dr. still wants me to have a blood test. Can anyone tell me if seeing sprue is positive for gluten intolerance or can it be caused by something else?

An endoscopy has been the gold standard for diagnosis. If you had a positive one then you have celiac....no if ands or buts about it. If you have a negative biopsy then you still can have celiac and need blood tests for sure then but with a positive one you definitely have it and need to go gluten free right away.

Don't be sad about ...think of it as you have an answer and you will feel better. Think of all the damage that gluten can do and you can reverse that now. It's a good thing they caught it now too...if it goes ignored then you have 40-100 times more of a chance for cancer,diabetes,osteoporosis, etc. So as you can see it is not worth it.

You can have so many good foods still...even junk food like some chips, candies, ice creams and some alternatives for bread is good(some are bad too though)...for everything that has gluten there is something without it too. You will find tons of info on this board. You can find out all the good brands to try and it can be overwhelming at first but just keep to it, it gets easier

It's a good thing that the doctor caught it. Many people go for years with undiagnosed celiac and end up having many problems.
