Increased Cancer Risk

Can someone point me to a link for the literature that shows the increased cancer risk of 40-100 times for celiacs who do not follow the diet?

I'm wondering how that number can be assumed to be accurate given that the majority of celiacs go undiagnosed (and therefore do not follow the diet).

You can find that in many articles if you search it. The damage done to the intestine could cause problems pretty much anywhere.

There has been research done on the people who have gone a long time indiagnosed and everything. A majority of the people are undiagnosed but there is still alot of research done on the people that do get dignosed.

This topic is interesting to me because I've been trying to figure out who was a celiac in my family.All fingers point to my Grandmother, rest her soul, who always had trouble with pastas and crackers, etc.. and died of cancer of the stomach lining. She was never diagnosed with Celiac but we think that was the issue. This is why it was very important that I confirm whether Robbie has this disease for sure-he had his biopsy today. I will have to take a look at this info on the potential for cancer as well

      This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

      I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
