Pinching Feeling

This is not something I've read about on any of the early pregnancy symptom lists, but starting yesterday evening, I was feeling this 'pinching' feeling very low on my left side. I've heard of cramping at implantation, but this really doesn't feel like cramping, but just a funny pinching inside. I ovulated a week ago yesterday, so this would be right in line with time of implantation. Just curious if this feeling is familiar to anyone??? (fingers crossed)

Jen

Hi Jen,

I've never been pregnant, so sorry I don't have a very knowledgeable response for you.

I have, however, read about twinging, tingling, pulling, gurgling, etc. all being normal feelings during a woman's cycle. I really like the forums and charts at http://tcoyf.com, there are lots of very supportive people on there. I also check out http://www.countdowntopregnancy.com, it has more detailed symptoms.

We've been TTC for 3 months now. I'm on 9DPO & CD23. Having some spotting and cramping that could either be implantation, or pms, but hoping it's the former.

Good luck! :)

I'm no help, but wishing the best for you both.

Tarnalberry ( a member here ) is very knowledgeable about these things.

We've been not not trying since I came off of Depo in May. It wasn't until almost exactly one month after going gluten free that my period re-started from being on the Depo and even then my OBGYN really cautioned me that I may well not ovulate on my own for a year or more, but that (given my husband's and my ages) she didn't want us trying for more then six months without success. She had me purchase some OTC ovulation tests and start testing about day 6 or 7 of my cycle, but just cautioned me to not get my hopes up. Well, low and behold, day 13 I got a :) meaning that I ovulated on day 14 just like I should have. And yesterday, 7DPO, I started getting the pinching feeling. Fingers crossed...I'm cautiously optimistic!

Good luck to you, too! It would be amazing if we were both going through this at the same time (almost to the day) and have that back and forth together!

Thanks Jen, good luck to us both! I'm having heavier spotting today and worried that my period is on its way, so I'm not sure this is the month for me... but I still have some hope, fingers crossed!

Hoping that it is implantation bleeding! That is very common, and is one of the main reasons people think they are not pg when they actually are. I have about five days now before my period would be due. <<fingers crossed>>

I hope so too, thanks! I've been exhausted, nauseous, moody, etc. today... not sure if it's possible pregnancy or PMS. The waiting game sucks!

It most definately does! And it's exacerbated by the fact that so many of the symptoms overlap... I've been the same way, exhausted, backache, moody (just ask hubby! lol), but no more than my 'usual' nausia. And add my 'cramps' or whatever they'd be called, I know I still have to be a little pessimistic so as not to get my hopes up too high, but I'm very hopeful! How long before you can take a HPT? I took one the other day, knowing that it would be too early, but just felt like I HAD to do it. I should be safe to test by Thurs or Fri, but I'll probably get another multi-pack and test every day starting on Wednesday.

Hi Jen

I am not a Celiac but have been pregnant 3 times. During the very early stages of my first I did feel a 'pinching' feeling on one side which went after a few weeks. I have not come across anyone else that had these sensation before.

Well, three months later and a startling revelation!  After going gluten free (and nearly bankrupt buying special foods), my wife made a lunch of meat potatoes and gravy made with Bertolli white sauce - no wheat there right?  Big flare up withing hours and I was really wiped out with it.  She rechecks the label on the sauce bottle and right at the bottom of the ingredients XANTHAN GUM. There's our #1 suspect again!  So by way of experimenting, she decided to try making a loaf of bread with just regular white flour like she used to do and see what happened; the familiar smell hit me when I walked in the door last night and I sat down to eat this still warm, fresh goodness - I thought even if I have to take Imodium sandwiches, it will be worth it 😋 No ill effects, either overnight or today!  Half the loaf is now gone because I had some for supper, saving just one last slice for breakfast in the morning` - I've used the bathroom once and that was normal, so maybe it is not the gluten after all? Can't wait to try a beer! 😁

Unfortunately, the development of celiac disease usually is not an end in and of itself. It usually brings along friends, given time. It is at heart an immune system dysfunction which often embraces other immune system dysfunctions as time goes on.

Thanks so much for the responses. I will urge him to go for further investigation. To be 48yrs old and develop a new allergy.. ugh, As if celiac disease isn’t enough!

This does not seem to be an anaphylactic response but I agree it would be wise to seek allergy-food sensitivity testing. You might look into ALCAT food sensitivity testing.

@Celiacpartner, I agree with Scott. We have a food festival yearly in the town I live in, with artisan food stalls everywhere. I spoke to the owner of one of the artisan burger stalls, enquiring if the burgers were gluten-free when I said I was Coeliac ... he said he had a serious anaphylactic allergy to fish himself. He possibly carries an epi-pen or two everywhere he goes. I would go see an allergist as soon as possible as suggested.
