Not Sure Yet If I Have Celiac

I am new here as of today. I have Diverticulitis, acid reflux, no gall bladder, and I think maybe Celiac. As of Feb. 1 2012 I will have Medicare and Kaiser but for now I have nothing so I'm experimenting with my diet. I have given up all dairy including eggs and cheese, very lean beef and chicken breasts. no citrus or tomatoes, no nuts, seeds or popcorn (Diverticulitis) and for the last 3 weeks no gluten. For the first 3 days I had annoying little headaches and a bout of floaters once but they went away. My symptoms were (before my new diet), major heartburn, throwing up once a week usually in the middle of the night. diarrhea, major stiffness in my joints, so bad I thought I was getting RA. I have also given up onions and maybe corn. I've been eating gluten free corn muffins every day this week and today I have major pain in my left side which could be because of the diverticulitis but maybe it's the corn. I've heard of corn being the second hardest thing to digest after wheat so that's my next step.

I have stopped eating processed food. Except for today, I have felt really good, no bloating, no upset stomach. I've been making homemade soup and yesterday I made beef stew and loved it except I didn't know how to make a sauce for it but it was still good. I try to make and freeze stuff so I don't get tired of having one thing 5 days in a row.

I still don't know if I have Celiac but I probably won't go back to eating gluten regardless. I am worried about getting enough protein and vitamins but after reading through some of these posts I will check out some supplements. Oh I have no more heartburn at all. Doctor put me on metoclopran (sp?) but it made me super restless so I stopped it anyway that's another story.

Thanks for listening.

Hi, welcome to the group. I'm still new myself, but I can say it's really nice to have a group of people who share your concerns. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
