I keep baby wipes in a baggie in my purse. I bring 'em in with me when I go to the bathroom. It really works- and now if can't go w/o them- or I can tell the difference- it's like my butt is actually complaining if I don't use them!! Who knew your butt could have a preference! :P

If you've been mostly gluten-free since August there's a pretty good chance your bloodtests will come back negative even if you have celiac disease. You need to be eating it everyday for about 3 months before taking the tests.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Rachel,

Doctor's office called yesterday...blood tests were negative for celiac. I asked about needing to eat gluten until the day of the biopsy...answer is yes. I hope that I have enough time from Nov. 22 to January 15 to eat a good amt. for the biopsies to be accurate. B) Good thing is that I have planned/made a list of all the things/places I want to eat between now and then. This a.m. I had chocolate donuts for the first time in months. Did your blood test show negative results? Do you think that it is pretty common for the blood test to be negative, but the biopsy be positive? From what I understand, the biopsy is the definitive answer...is that what you understand, too?

Thanks for your input...really appreciated. :D

Well ever since going gluten-free I go once a day, and it happens about 30 mins after my morning coffee, and when the need strikes, it is a very urgent one. Better go or else!

But about 1/10 days, I am constipated for the day and go later in the afternoon.

Usually the constipated days it is a more normalish stool. In the AM, when it is urgent, it tends to be loose and kind of messy.

Something else is that the messy ones require a lot of TP and that in turns irritates the skind down there and it itches all day!!! Horrible! My doc said I dont have hemmorhoids but it sure hurts down there. I have found that using water to clean up helps.

Throught research online I found coffee contains a protein bean and  celiac reacts the same as it dose to gluten. I have switched to hot tea in the morning and have no problem with my bowels after drinking tea.

Try to get your info from reliable sources.  That coffee myth is not true.

"There is not yet reliable data about cross-reactivity. As for the alleged possibility that many gluten-free foods or drinks (such as coffee, milk, orange juice, etc.) would trigger symptoms in celiac individuals due to hidden antigens mimicking gluten or cross-reacting with anti-gluten antibodies, it must be clearly stated that this is all false information, devoid of any scientific basis, and must be rejected as untrue."

First off old post, second off coffee does not cross react or any of that BS. You probably bought contaminated coffee -_-. Oddly this happens more so then you would think with off brand companies, companies that do flavors, and instant ones.  Look up christopherbean coffee, great flavored blends etc all gluten free. We had a huge rant for over a month about the whole coffee aspect last year...please feel free to look up that.

Hi all I’ve been celiac for 4 years now, I’ve done pretty well to avoid it thus far. Last night I took the wrong pizza out of the freezer and ate the whole lot!! The non gluten and gluten pizza boxes are both very similar.   2 hours later I was throwing up violently on my hands and knees over the loo.  .horrendous stomach pains,  My hair was wet from sweat every part of my body was wet. What an awful experience, just had a bad headache today  fortunately.    Is their any products/pills anyone takes if they have realised they have just been glutened to make the symptoms a little less worse.  thanks

Yes, do take your B Complex with Benfotiamine or Thiamax.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins in the B Complex to make energy and enzymes, so best to take them together earlier in your day.  Taking them too close to bedtime can keep you too energetic to go to sleep.   The Life Extension Benfotiamine with Thiamine is Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride, another form of thiamine the body likes.  The Thiamine HCl just helps the Benfotiamine work better.   Read the label for how many milligrams are in them.  The Mega Benfotiamine is 250 mgs.  Another Benfothiamine has 100 mgs.  You might want to start with the 100 mg.    I like to take Thiamax in the morning with a B Complex at breakfast.  I take the Benfotiamine with another meal.  You can take your multivitamin with Benfotiamine at lunch.   Add a magnesium supplement, too.  Thiamine needs magnesium to make some important enzymes.  Life Extension makes Neuro-Mag, Magnesium Threonate, which is really beneficial.  (Don't take Magnesium Oxide.  It's not absorbed well, instead it pulls water into the digestive tract and is used to relieve constipation.)  I'm not a big fan of multivitamins because they don't always dissolve well in our intestines, and give people a false sense of security.  (There's videos on how to test how well your multivitamin dissolves.).  Multivitamins don't prevent deficiencies and aren't strong enough to correct deficiencies.   I'm happy you are trying Thiamax and Benfotiamine!  Keep us posted on your progress!  I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

I looked further into Thiamax Vitamin B1 by objective nutrients and read all the great reviews. I think I will give this a try. I noticed only possible side affect is possibly the first week so body adjusts. Life Extensions carries Benfotiamine with Thiamine and the mega one you mentioned. Not sure if both in one is better or seperate. some reviews state a laxative affect as side affect. SHould I take with my super B complex or just these 2 and multivitamin? I will do further research but I appreciate the wonderful explanation you provided on Thiamine.

There are other Celiac genes. HLA DQ 2 and HLA DQ 8 show up in people from Northern European descent.   People of Mediterranean descent have HLA DQ 7.  People of Asian descent have HLA DQ 9.   There's other Indigenous populations that have other HLA genes that code for Celiac disease.   Are you still having symptoms?   What do you include in your diet?  Are you vegetarian? Are you taking any prescription medication?  Omeprazole?  Metformin?   Do you have anemia?  Thyroid problems? Are you taking any vitamins or herbal supplements?
