Severe Joint Pain In Several Areas At Once

Hi i live in Australia and have had severe joint pain (muscle around the joint) since 1994.

After many visits to doctors (blood tests and X-Rays), specialists and naturopath's they have diagnosed me with Osteoarthritis, Ross River virus and a few more.

They scratched their head for many years and even said it was in my head.

The first few years I took anti inflammatory drugs prescribed then lost faith in most doctors.

Guessing I must diagnose myself when all the professional help has failed to find anything.

I relied on Voltaren, Herron Blue and Neurofen tablets and gel for pain relief, it was extremely crippling and made the every day things hard.

Until the pain relief was not effective at all and the pain was crippling again. The pain is extremely crippling during the night then eases a little when I have bowel movement throughout the day.

I have researched the internet and noticed that gluten products were a major cause of different symptoms, sore joints being one of them.

Over the last few months I have had reoccurring bouts of eczema.

I have been gluten free for 2 weeks now and eczema settled very quickly, joints are still causing problems but it's only early days. I don't feel heavy and bloated and seemed to have lost a little weight.

Today joint pain has narrowed to one joint aching (which I have learned to live with it), normally its three or four at the same time.

Fingers crossed I have finally found the balance for my body...GLUTEN FREE

Would love to hear from people who have similar challenges and would like to read your stories.

Welcome to the board. 2 weeks is very short into the healing phase and it is good that you are seeing results already. For me it was about 6 months before the pain resolved. Complete relief for me required dropping soy also but that may not be the case for you. Celiac is very inflammatory and it seems it can attack any part of the body. It sounds like you are doing well gluten free but do be aware that if you are gluten free they can't test you for celiac. So if you feel you want a doctors diagnosis then you would need to go back on gluten for a couple of months before testing.

So far 3 months in - worsening symptoms. I have had the worst constipation in my life and I am primarily eating naturally gluten-free foods like potatoes, eggs, salad with homemade dressing, corn tortillas, etc. I hate gluten-free bread and pasta so I don't eat it. Occasionally I eat gluten-free almond flour crackers. As stated in the post, I don't have any vitamin deficiency. I was already tested.

As I said, I do not have any vitamin deficiency. I was already tested.

Talk to your  Talk to your provider about testing for vitamin and mineral deficiency.  celiac disease causes malabsorption and eventually malnutrition.  Especially vitamin D. Having the gallbladder removed seems to be a common step on the way to a Celiac Disease Diagnosis,  Gallbladder is a sympton of deficient Choline. Eggs and red meat are the primary source..Choline makes up a majority of the bile salts.  The bile gets thick, doesn't get enough into intestine to digest fats well.  Can eventually back up into gallbladder, cause gallstones.  Without bile, bowel movements can become hard. Try to avoid all processed foods while you are healing, The gluten-free foods are not fortified with vitamins and use various ingredients to mimic fat that bothers many Celiacs.  Choose vegatables with low omega 6.  Optimum omega 6 to omega 3 ratio is less than 3:1.  Wheat flour is 22:1.  Grass fed milk is 1:1.   Commercial Dairies milk is 5:1.  They feed wheat, rye and barley Gluten as part of the food mix.

Your DGP-G is also high. The thing to do now would be to trial the gluten-free diet for a few months to see if there is improvement in symptoms.
