First Gi Visit And... Hopeful? -Ish?

I almost didn't go to my GI app't because I've been so fearful of not being taken seriously. But then I did, because who doesn't love specialist co-pays? I told him I was having problems with gluten, described my 1,000 symptoms, and he said, "That doesn't sound like gluten intolerance. Have you been tested for Celiac?" Hallelujah.

So I have an endoscopy scheduled for the 20th. When he told me I had to eat gluten until then, I teared up. Just Friday and Saturday back on gluten has left me a fatigued, emotional, bloated, and painful mess. He tried to make it sound like I could have fun with a last round of gluten-eating, but it really just sucks.

Oh well. Once more into the gluteny breach.

Pretty much. You might want to clarify whether the anti-gliadin tests are actually the deamidated gliadin peptides. A few labs here and there are not up to speed on that one and still do an older test, anti-gliadin antibodies.

Other than that, sounds like you are on a good path.

Except...sounds like you've been off, then back on gluten. How long have you been off gluten before seeing this GI? If you've been gluten free for any length of time, the tests aren't going to be accurate, and the biopsy could be skewed as well. Two weeks isn't necessarily long enough to raise the damage they're looking for.

I was off for about two weeks, on again since Friday. Hopefully by then there will be enough damage (sigh) to register...

KAN‑101 is still very much in development and being actively studied. It has not been dropped—rather, it is advancing through Phases 1 and 2, moving toward what could become the first disease‑modifying treatment for celiac disease. https://anokion.com/press_releases/anokion-announces-positive-symptom-data-from-its-phase-2-trial-evaluating-kan-101-for-the-treatment-of-celiac-disease/

Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?

Have you tried lip balm made from tallow?  It's been used for thousands of years and works better than those with waxes. I prefer Vintage Traditions brand tallow balm products.

Are you taking a B 6 supplement or a supplement containing B 6 like a B Complex?  Do you have pins and needles in your toes?   Don't worry about the thiamine being high.  The blood is a transport system that carries thiamine to the cells so they can store it.  It's fine.
