Hello!

I recently have had swelling of the lower stomach it feels like it weighs 50 pounds and is very uncomfortble when I ran my hand across it I could feel ridges.

it only lasts about a day and has happened 3 times does anyone know what this is from?

i'm kinda of concerned about this cause I was recently reading about ovarian and uterine cancer and my periods are terrible.....

I have an appointment with a GI guy on wednesday but i was just hoping to get some insight ahead of time...

thanks alot

Hi!

Is it down more where your uterus is?

If that is the case, it may be fibroids. I just had my annual physical, and my family doctor felt something so she sent me for an ultrasound. Turns out it is fibroids and a swollen uterine wall. Nothing major, just something she is going to keep her eye on......

Definitely discuss it with your dr. though......

Hugs.

My first guess would be the same as Karen's- fibroids. Mine cause horrible periods; one was so bad that it attached itself to my pelvic floor and I ended up with a total hysterectomy. I don't know if your GI would order an ultrasound, but if he won't, go to a gp or ob/gyn and see if he/she would order one.

Thank you for the advice. I’ve actually never checked for nutritional deficiencies, but for as long as I can remember, I’ve always taken vitamin and mineral supplements — otherwise my symptoms get worse. This week I stopped eating gluten to confirm whether my symptoms are really caused by it. Starting next week, I’ll reintroduce gluten — it’s sad to go back to how I was before — but at least I’ll be able to take the necessary tests properly. I think the diagnostic process will be long, but at least I’m happy that I finally decided to address this doubt I’ve had for years.

Hey Julie! I was in a similar situation before my biopsy and my gastro said Tylenol was fine. Just avoid ibuprofen or anything anti-inflammatory until you're cleared. Hope your surgery goes smoothly!

I don't see how cornstarch could alter the test results. Where did you read that?

For pain relief I take a combination of Thiamine (Benfotiamine), Pyridoxine B 6, and Cobalamine B12.  The combination of these three vitamins has analgesic effects.  I have back pain and this really works.  The B vitamins are water soluble and easily excreted.   Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your results!
